I am so happy, maybe this will finally shut up the locals that I've been fighting with on the message boards here in Northeast Wisconsin. Butch also has his own business - He's a tax accountant! A lot of people, business and locals get their taxes done at his place.

Oconto Falls vet disputes John Kerry's medals

(8/27/04) An Oconto Falls man says he was there when John Kerry earned his Purple Heart and his Bronze Star in Vietnam. And, Butch Vorphal has a very different account of what happened that day. Kerry says he earned bothmedals for pulling a fellow soldier out of a river while under heavy enemy fire. Vorphal was on board Swift Boat Number Three, which was hit by mines that day. While the blast knocked him out for a short time, Vorphal told W-T-A-Q's Bill LuMaye the only gunfire he remembers was cover fire from the Swift Boats themselves. Vorphal says they lay down cover fire because they assume there's going to be enemy gunfire. He says when they stopped fireing, there was no other gunfire. Vorphal says none of his shipmates remember seeing bullet holes from enemy fire in the Swift Boats. Vorphal says he doesn't remember anyone else being injured enough to get a purple heart.

My first thought is that maybe this guy is a phony plant that when discovered after much hoopla will be used as an example to discredit ligitimate claims against Kerry.....

I don't know, but I would think that there should be some record of his service. That's why I posted it here. Just like Navy, Navy, Navy said, he's posted here before, but????? Is there any way to find out?

Shocked

It is hard keep track of everything because there is so much stuff out there but I thougt that the LT was killed when the boat hit the mine.

I might be mistaken though.

Don't worry about the Kerry Link! Though someone should save that version of the spot report before Kerry figures he needs to do some editing and released too much information.

lunr99 --Why don't you get in touch with this guy by phone. He's in the book, right? Ask him if he wants to do more talk radio and if he is in touch with "swift media central". His story is very important right now.

Number 1 -- This guy Butch has an important part of the picture right now. The Bronze star and 3rd Heart are up to get knocked over. And when they go, Kerry won't have much left. Is Butch going to be doing more media appearances? Maybe he should be in the next commercial sort of like Steve Gardner was featured in the last?

Dwight
