First, how is it that the Kerry camp could get that information when we cannot get equal information regarding Kerry.

Second, how is it that they can say he got a Bronze star when it is not listed on the list of unit citations for that year?

First, it was the WAPO that did it. 2nd, Award Citations are not considered to be protected by "privacy rules" It was obtained by a FOIA request to the National Archives Personnel Records Center in St. Louis in most liklihood.

ok, but why is no Bronze Star listed as having been awarded to anyone but Sandusky and Alston, who we do not believe was there that day? None for Lambert, none for Thurlow....just Rood, Sandusky and Kerry:/

I was just digging around on the kerry website (YUK!!!!!) looking at some of the records they have posted there. I just so happened to be looking at this document they have titled " Bronze Star recommendation" right before I switched back to here.

I hate to send traffic over to kerry's site, but here is the link to the document if ya wanna check it out: http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/jkmilservice/bronze_star_recommendation.pdf

It is apparently the official recommendation for the Bronze Star for kerry, but it also lists Thurlow & Lambert as "others being recommended for same service/action". Interestingly enough, it also lists the "eyewitnesses" as Sandusky.

Don't know what it all means... since the tell-tale to the truth lies in WHO wrote up the after action report that prompted Elliot (the signer of the recommendation) to make the recommendation, since the language used in the "summary of action" in the recommendation is obviously wrong.

I have seen that. He has taken a lot of stuff down from what was there a few weeks ago. The document "Command History" is one of them. It says:

Awards: Coastal Division ELEVEN personnel received the following individual awards for the year 1969.

(a) Silver Star
LTJG Kerry (note it says JG Kerry, not JF Kerry....remember the questions as to weather he had changed his name??

(b) Bronze Star
Rood, Sandusky and Alston are listed here, among others, but none that I have seen mentioned in conjunction with the Kerry escapades. The point being, there is no Bronze Star awarded to Lambert or Thurlow according to this.

Hanna,

I believe the "JG" stands for Junior Grade and is not a nefarious name-change plot.

I would thin JG mean Junior Grade which was his rank.

so it would be

Lieutenant Junior Grade Kerry.
