People have mentioned that Elliott had "endorsed" Streuli's Fitrep on Kerry. By signing that block, Elliott is saying that this Fitrep is a Concurrent Fitrep. Sounds like Kerry was TAD to CD 13, not attached full time. This would make sense for having Elliott's signature on both. He endorsed the concurrent, and then wrote his own. Much later it looks like.
That brings up a few questions.
Did Elliott originally write a different Fitrep, covering the dates after his TAD to 13. Or was Elliott's Fitrep lost in the Admin shuffle. With that message from Pers, sounds like it was missing. Either forgotten (that's never happened) or lost (not in the Navy).
I liked Streuli's marks & write-up. Not too flattering. Also CD-14's Fitrep. Less than a month, you would think it would be a straight NOB. But not only did they grade his Mil Bearing, they knocked it down a few. Even on the boat, his Mil Bearing wasn't that outstanding.
One question for the Admin types. On a Concurrent Fitrep where the CO of your parent command decides to write a Regular Fitrep overlapping the dates of the Concurrent, does the Front page stay in your record? If the dates overlap, that might confuse the Board, you know how those Non-JOPA's are.
& can the Skipper write an Overlapping Fitrep? |

Check out www.sportsmenforkerry.com/fitrep_analysis.htm.
I am looking for feedback / corrections / expansions from people experienced in these things, especially those who signed Kerry's fitreps. If it appears alittle odd, it is because this page is not linked into the rest of the site yet. I want to make sure it is right before publishing for general consumption.
Enjoy. |
Ok, first off, i am an ignorant slob when it comes to this stuff, but after reading the info on the link you provided, i came to a conclusion.
That conclusion is that Kerry was smoozing political figures in an effort to stay out of action, out of VN. When this failed, and likely the attempt incured the wrath of military higher ups, he then gets information that if he gets 3 purple hearts, he can get out of VN. Its apparent that he learned of this method rather quickly. Guys who were over there for their full terms never learned of it till they found out Kerry had used that method to get out early.
As is known, Kerry only joined the Navy to avoid being drafted into the Army, after failing to get a deferment. Its apparant Kerry did everything he could to avoid being sent to VN, and if he was going to go, its better to be as far away from the action, as possible. In the Navy, he could sit out the war onboard a ship far from the action. Now all i want to know is, why was he on a swiftboat. Was it volounteer, or was it because it was all he was suited to do, or was it because he ticked off the wrong Commander when he tried using PI to stay away from VN?
In my dads day, having PI stamped on yo'ur records was pretty much a death sentence for anyone seeking a creer in the military. But then, its no secret Kerry was seeking anything but a military career.
On another note, how long was Kerry in the military? I think i recall he got an early out, if this is so, why and how? _________________ Today i saw a most splended goose......... then i shot him! He was most certainly a splended goose. |

Just a hair over 4 years I believe. He just made LT (so assuming 2 for Ens & 2 for JG) when he got out early. He got out so he could run for political office. |
