i read somewhere that one theory is that KJW refers to the radio guys initials since they seem to appear on other documents as well.

There is a link somewhere around here to Documents that Rassman received a purple heart on 3/13/69. I am looking for it.

Thanks!

And the source of this Purple Heart? The rice fragging or the underwater mine?

The Spot Report shows 7-USN-WIA and one MSF -KIA (BT) from a booby trap earlier in the day. But no Rassman WIA mentioned in the Spot Report. Very curious that he has made no mention of this!

No - it's apparently just a General Order that lists the day for the action which Rassman was decorated. It 13 MAR, alright. But lots of things happened before they hit the fishing net. One of these guys was killed, earlier, by a booby-trap. His Recommendation and Citation are not public record. I can't imagine that, even in Kerry-world of that era, that he'd get a Purple Heart for falling overboard. On the other hand, there's no mention that he was injured that day. If he was a guy whose job it was to write people up for medals, then how did he write himself up, if he didn't get injured? Who witnessed his injury?
