My understanding is that the "C-4" on the Bravo line of the spot report is a reference to the condition of the boat according to some code or schedule the Navy used, not to a type of explosive. |

One thing that would help would be to find the Naval guidance for completing the casualty report. For example, here is a Marine guidance document for various types of recon reports, which clearly describes the information required in the "alpha", "bravo", etc. sections of the report:
