Ted,
These are all great point. Super job as usual.
In my continuing quest to get the MSM out of the muddy waters of the Kerry campaign I continue to request that those of you venting on the Forum also vent your frustration to the MSM in the form of email. It is apparent that the MSM wants to continue to deny the facts already "in evidence" and make the story go away.
As was said above I would recommend the use of the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature if avaialbe on your email program. From what I understand, this allows you to send to multiple addresses without the addressee seeing it to be a mass mailing. If you use Outlook as I do and can't figure out how to do it (as I couldn't).
-Go to "New Message" to create the message and secc if you have a contact block that says BCC. If not, go to "view" andselect "all headers".
-Copy and paste the email addresses from the following list (you may want to edit the list first):

NOTE- I haven't tried it yet, but I'm told that you may not be able to use all the addresses at once and may have to make the list shorter and send out several cut and paste messages. The list is kept in sources and is being constantly updated (Thanks, Rocket Fett) _________________ OsanFAC

Tried the email list posted to BCC and it appears to work great!
Received a very pleasant response from Major Garrett of Fox News. I recommend emailing him and thanking him for his efforts. He is one of the few who have dogged this story and is obviously proud of his work to date. I found it great that he found the time to respond.
He wrote:
I hope you have had a chance to see my reports for Fox's Special Report on this story. I was the first to quote Kerry people admitting Kerry wasn't in Cambodia on Christmas eve 1968, the first to quote them as saying it was "possible" Kerry's first purple heart could have been for a self-inflicted wound, the first to show that Del Sandusky's own account of the Rassmann episode proved the other boats didn't flee the scene (this was BEFORE the Post's story). I'm also the first one to report Kerry tried to quell this story in March, calling Adm. Hoffman personally to do so.
Please keep watching and writing.
All best,
Major Garrett _________________ OsanFAC

I have a little program (freeware) called Postmail which runs on Windows (Unix/Linux people have something better already) which will let you take a simple batch file and mail to dozens but each will be the ONLY recipient.
(Some of them filter on multiple destinations.)
If you need it -- PM me with you email -- it's small, a few hundred K at most (zipped).
ONE EMAIL per line / no ";" if you use a file to feed them to my postmail _________________ Herb |

I wrote back to Major Garret thanking him for responding to my first email and this is what came back (I love theis guy!):
Thank you for your note. I try to respond to every personal e-mail. As you might imagine I've received more than a few from Kerry supporters who accuse me of shoddy journalism and much worse. I respond to those as well but it seems to take no time for these critics to resort to vulagarity and ad hominem attacks. The one benefit of this is I no longer feel compelled to respond. All I am trying to do in this story is what I was taught to do....make sure the facts add up. In significant respects they have not. I believe many of my media colleagues expect this story to follow the "typical arc" and die out when it the media is turning its attention elsewhere, e.g. the GOP convention. But they have not met these Swit Vets as I have. They don't care about political timing or media distractions. Many are being pounded in the press and these guys in many respects don't have the media savvy to respond in ways that always advance their cause. In this they strike me as more than sincere. They feel wronged. They are trying to right a wrong and they intend to do that until the matter is settled. And it wouldn't make one ounce of difference if the president asked them to stop. They believe Kerry has hyped himself, sullied them and continues to wink-wink his way around the 1971 Senate testimony. And since Kerry has made Vietnam the crucible through which we are all invited to judge him, the Swift Vets are adamant about rendering their judgment.....even if it means taking a lot of grief from the chattering classes. I intend to stay on this story. I am pursuing many leads and angles. I thank you for watching and I appreciate your input.
All best,
Major Garrett (a Major by birth, not by service -- my only true regret in life) _________________ OsanFAC

Swift Boat Shootout
By Michael Getler
Sunday, August 29, 2004; Page B06
Sent an E-mail to the Washington Post.
Told Getler that he left out that Kerry lied about being in Cambodia.
Getler left out Kerry's statement on "Meet the Press" where he admitted to committing the same type of atrocities that he mentioned in his Senate testimony.
My brother did not know anyone and got into the Reserves.
Ended the E-mail by stating I could go on but that I had made my point. |
