The MSM has stepped up for Kerry again this morning....by ignoring his midnight rant in favor of covering the terrorist incident in Russia.

Oops, terrorist attacks on school children in Russia is another reminder of how real a threat terrorism is in this world and that's Bush's territory.

I just caught up to reading through this thread.

What glares out to me is Kerry defineing himself as a War Hero....
He left his men behind with barely a scratch.
He commited several acts of treason when he returned home.
He caused pain and suffering to POWs, his commrads returning home, and the families of soldiers bravely serving their country.
That's not the stuff of a Hero, that's the stuff of a COWARD.

I sincerely hope that SBVT get the TRUTH totaly widely exposed.

Lastly, What a terrific RNC!

There's almost something magical about this... he doesn't seem to be able to help himself! He's dug his heels in and he's standing by the myth he's created. Pathologically? he must so, so BELIEVE that he is a war hero... and no, they can't take that away from me!

And what was that other quote I heard from one of his spokespeople, or Edwards or someone lately, that he was going to "ride his swift boat" out into the fray, or something to that effect. GEEZ!! Just ASKING FOR IT!! This next month is going to be oh so busy for all of us.....

Kerry thinks that 5 weeks in a SHIP offshore Vietnam
in deep water and 4 months in country constitute "TWO TOURS."

Most of his sycophants are both too stupid and too fawning to correct him.

I guess if you are on a shipboard vacation then the weeks at
sea might be a "tour"?

The Gridley page http://home.nycap.rr.com/pwcarter/the%20kerry%20page.html lists the tour of duty as most of 4 months. In Unfit it is estimated that the ship spent as few as 5 weeks in Vietnamise waters but it could have been longer.
to quote the Gridly XO J. F. Kelly, Jr.

"We deployed from San Diego to the Vietnam theatre in early 1968 after only a six-month turnaround and spent most of a four month deployment on rescue station in the Gulf of Tonkin, standing by to pick up downed aviators. It was a fairly grueling tour of duty. Our helicopter was shot up trying to rescue a downed pilot and the door gunner was killed".

So not exactly a vacation cruise.

That North SAR station was problematic. On the one hand, there
was almost nothing to do. The only thing that you were there for
was to stand by to rescue pilots coming out of North Viet Nam all
shot up. So the bright spot was that you could catch up on needed
maintenance. The downside was that it was the one place where
you were vulnerable to attack by North Vietnamese aircraft. About
the only place where you were. Especially if you were on an old
tincan without missiles. So they would put a ship like Gridley up
there that was capable of dealing with aircraft.

Remember, it was a team effort. Kerry doesn't seem to "play well
with others".

The Legend: John Kerry served not just one, but rather two tours in Vietnam, with the implication being that both tours were in Swift Boats.

The Reality: John Kerry served a deployment in the western Pacific aboard a guided missile frigate. Some seven weeks of this deployment were within the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin and qualify as Vietnam service. But the official term for such service is “deployment”, not “tour in Vietnam”. John Kerry was assigned to a full twelve month tour of duty in Vietnam as OIC of a Swift Boat. However, he actually completed only four months of this tour before bugging out.

To everybody except John Kerry, the term “tour in Vietnam” means boots on the ground for 12 or 13 months of mud, sweat, rain, mosquitoes, bad food and too little sleep, interspersed regularly with moments of intense trauma. John Kerry did not serve even one such tour.

John Kerry served aboard the USS Gridley (DLG-21) from June 8, 1967, to June 21, 1968. From February 9, 1968, to June 6, 1968, the USS Gridley made a deployment to the western Pacific ocean, commonly referred to as a “WestPac deployment”. During that period of time, the USS Gridley sailed in waters considered to be contiguous to Vietnam for the periods March 16 to March 29 and April 3 to May 7. The crewmen who served aboard the USS Gridley for these seven weeks are authorized to wear the Vietnam Service Medal. But this was a WestPac deployment with seven weeks in the waters near Vietnam. This was not a “tour in Vietnam”.

John Kerry was assigned to Coastal Squadron One for a 12 month tour of duty in Swift Boats beginning on November 17, 1968. Over the period of the next four months, John Kerry received three very minor wounds that required little more than band-aids for treatment and caused no loss of time from duty. There is strong evidence that at least two of these “wounds” were accidentally self-inflicted during periods of time when no enemy fire was being received. As such, these two “wounds” do not meet the requirements for the award of a Purple Heart. Despite the minor nature of his “wounds” and the circumstances under which they were received, John Kerry applied for and received a Purple Heart for each of them. And when he had his third Purple Heart in hand, he used a little known regulation to escape from his duty in Vietnam. John Kerry actually served only four months and three days of his only “tour in Vietnam”.

"I'll lead the war on terror with the lessons I learned in war.
3 purple hearts and I'll go home and talk bad about everyone else who served.
Then I'll negoiate a worthless peace where I give away whatever the terroists want.

I was anxiously waiting for that particular news this morning. Knowing how liberals like to capitalize on the misery of others, these are important news to keep the momentum on the president side. Certainly they will resort to their usual spin and such, but the 5.4 rate is the lowest since October 2001 ( as per polipundit ). What a great week this has been! I hope that the jabs just keep coming at Kerry!

Kavman,

Don't forget that the jobs were revised up for June and July by 59K as well.

They already knew the numbers were going to be high yesterday i think, they had that pencil neck geek Tad Devine say Bush needs to add 900,000 new jobs every month to cover all his job loss. I dont see these numbers stopping them in their rhetoric.

I seem to recall that Clinton lost Manufactoring jobs during his last term and lost jobs total during his last two years. The rhetoric in this case is correct: It was a Clinton-Era recession.

How pathetic the late night Kerry-Edwards..whinning rally...but have a question. If Kerry can't get control of his presidential campaign how can we expect him to run a campaign against terror? Wake up America...this guy is a JOKE!!! Our men and women in uniform deserve better.
God Bless America,

I truly believe in most of the publics eye's Kerry has totally discredited himself badly. Him crying to get out of Nam and then putting himself back into it is another self inflicted injury one that will really hurt. All the wacko's and Bush haters will vote for him. But I do not feel many others will. I don't want to be to presumptuous it is early ,and we can not stop the mission but I think his implosion is gaining speed. Go on Kerry full speed ahead and take the MSM with you

This is true, but watch what attacks will come all our ways in the next two months and the amounts of money that will be spent for Kerry. This will continue even if Kerry falls far behind. So you are right, this is no time to grow complacent.

And it would be easy to grow complacent. Sen. Foghorn's shameful display last night can be blamed only on him, but watch the way Kerry and his MSM sycophants will first try to blow it off and then turn it into someone else's fault (image makers and so forth). What the nation witnessed was nothing short of the good senator having a psychotic episode.

God bless all of you. You reinvigorated the campaign against Kerry, and deserve full credit for doing so.

Did anyone catch in Kerry's speech last night, he said he had some "big news that was important"...He then proceeded to tell the crowd his "beloved" Boston Red Sox had pulled within 2.5 games of the Yankees in the AL East Playoff Race. Well, looks like Mr. Kerry isnt such a big fan after all, and that "important news" was a bunch of BS. The Yankees beat the Indians 9-1 last night, while the Red Sox won also, keeping the race the exact same as it was the day before at 3.5 games. Apparently, its not the first time he has "mispoke" about his favorite Red Sox team. Recently, he named a Red Sox player Manny Ortiz. Which apparently was a combination of Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz together in one!
