NavyChief:

I am not a vet, but I think this is a very thorough and professional piece of work. Having read many of your posts, I have seen that your work is consistently on a high level. Thank You for the effort.

I have a question: How close did Kerry actually get to Cambodia on this operation? Did he cross the border? Was he 40 miles away? Can it be pinpointed on a map?

Ladies and gentlemen: I give you the man who gave LTjg John Forbes Kerry the stinky, meldewing hat in his briefcase. LT Adams (Naval Intelligence Officer).

Not the famous CIA encounter Wink

would seem to me [just a civvie perspective] that info about a CIA operative, if there had been one, would be on a need-to- know basis. Those guys dont go around blabbing who they are, and Gardner made a statment that Kerry wouldnt be in the loop re a CIA op.

I'll remember that night as long as I live. We we're just kids out there. I was 9. There we were on the deck of a swift boat idleing gently into the waters of Cambodia. I remember the anger in my heart from the reports back home, how Nixon had just stolen the election from Humphrey. And now no one knew we were here except Nixon himself. I turned on the radio to hear jingle bells from the South Vietnamese Christmas channel. All I could here was something about an Apollo mission as it beamed back from space the Christmas Story.
Then over on the left back there came gunfire. I grew alarmed, I hadn't even told mom where I was going that night. I reached for the single shot spring loaded dart gun in my pocket. I had removed the rubber end and sharpened the plastic to point for greater effectiveness. Then code name "CIA"guy saw that I was nervous and gave me his "boonie" cap. "That's the Khemer Rouge guys out there celebrating Christmas with the drunk SVs. I was amazed at how he knew who these people were and what they were doing right now. I watched him mezmerized by as he put it, "all the multi-colored tracers". He stood there on the deck watching. For the most part we didn't see anything much less multi-colored tracers he was watching. I began to worry I might be on restriction when I got home because I had told my mommy I was going to Tim's house to watch Home Alone.

Regardless, he certainly was never ordered to go into Cambodia.

With apologies to the Christmas Song

Kerry's in Cambodia on a Christmas Eve
On a swift boat secretly
Being shot at by South Vietnamese
And troops from the Khemer Rouge
Nobody knows we're floating on the Mekong now
Except for Nixon and the like
Seared in his memory by the fire
will find it easy to recall this night
they know John Kerry's on his way
he's thrown lots of medals did he say
and every swift boat vet is going to spy
to see if this BS is really going to fly
and so I'm telling you this simple phrase
for Vets 18 to 92
nevermind what he says many times, many ways
John Kerry screws you.
