The 2004 GOP Convention: Four Days Filled With Lies, Mischaracterizations, Distortions, And Half-Truths

Above is the Press Release that Kerry Staffers are parading around saying they have listed out 140 lies from the GOP speakers. It just so happens John Kerry is attacking McCain as a liar. Kerry says numbers 10, 11, 12, 13 are McCain's lies. Notice he calls McCain in 11 a liar, not only in the past but in the future.

If McCain does not respond this attack upon him, I will lose a lot of respect for him

=========================================

Bush Has Done A Good Job With Our Allies.

10. Senator John McCain: “My friends in the Democratic Party and I'm fortunate to call many of them my friends assure us they share the conviction that winning the war against terrorism is our government's most important obligation. I don't doubt their sincerity. They emphasize that military action alone won't protect us, that this war has many fronts: in courts, financial institutions, in the shadowy world of intelligence, and in diplomacy. They stress that America needs the help of her friends to combat an evil that threatens us all, that our alliances are as important to victory as are our armies. We agree. And, as we've been a good friend to other countries in moments of shared perils, so we have good reason to expect their solidarity with us in this struggle. That is what the President believes. And, thanks to his efforts we have received valuable assistance from many good friends around the globe, even if we have, at times, been disappointed with the reactions of some.”

11. Senator John McCain: “Our President will work with all nations willing to help us defeat this scourge that afflicts us all.”

Bush Did It Right Going to War Against Iraq.

12. Senator John McCain: “However just the cause, we should shed a tear for all that is lost when war claims its wages from us. But there is no avoiding this war. We tried that, and our reluctance cost us dearly. And while this war has many components, we can't make victory on the battlefield harder to achieve so that our diplomacy is easier to conduct.”

13. Senator John McCain: “After years of failed diplomacy and limited military pressure to restrain Saddam Hussein, President Bush made the difficult decision to liberate Iraq. Those who criticize that decision would have us believe that the choice was between a status quo that was well enough left alone and war. But there was no status quo to be left alone. “

When Kerry and his hacksters call everyone else in the world liars, they can not be taken seriously. The entire world is lying and John Kerry is the only person telling the truth? Yeppers.

Kerry's staff just slammed McCain in his most significant speech in over 4 years, you can argue it was more important for McCain that his speech at the last GOP convention.

Kerry just "Sold Out" McCain....this is not some sort of nuance...he called McCain a liar. It's not a debate if he called him liar, its a full out approved all the way up to Kerry Press release and talking points.

McCain has been fence sitting for a long time now....I wonder if McCain thinks his own integrity is worth getting off the fence for. Time will show.

Let the games begin. Pull up a chair and make some popcorn. I do believe Senator Unhinged is about to implode. I really think we need to see this crackpot's medical records. He is really scarey.

I just sent a letter to Senator McCain. I hope some of you in this forum will do the same, respectfully bringing this to the attention of Senator McCain, and stating how the Kerry Campaign is directly confronting his integrity and honesty.

Here is a way to contact Senator McCain:

"They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy
to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming
to take me away, ha-haaa!!!

To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haa!!!
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time... "

It would apear that Kerry is just discrediting his critic....I guess McCain will play lap dog for Kerry so long as he is expected to flip flop on this questioning of McCain's integrity.

Quote:
Kerry unfair in criticism, McCain says
Associated Press September 5, 2004

ROSWELL, N.M. -- John McCain tried Saturday to play peacemaker again.

The Republican said Democrat John Kerry was "unfair" when he criticized the GOP ticket as "unfit to lead the nation" and when he suggested that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney avoided serving in Vietnam.

"John Kerry's characterization that the president is unfit for duty is unfair," said McCain, R-Ariz.

"I categorically reject that just as I categorically reject allegations that Senator Kerry didn't serve honorably."

Kerry had lashed out at Bush after the GOP convention, where speakers criticized his Senate voting record on national security issues and argued that the Democrat was unfit to be commander in chief

OK people, you've got to help me here. I'm new to politics -- only been aboard since 9/11.... To my inexperienced eye:

I see the Republicans holding their own convention - their "party with the choir," so to speak. And they express their views and beliefs and talk about what they have done and want to do so others can know them and hopefully vote for them. And they point out faults of the other side to further their cause.

I see the Democrats doing the exact same with their own convention. (Not as well done as the Republ convention, but they did the best they could.)

Is this post-convention "list of lies" put out by kerry, which basically denies every view and belief and statement of the Republs, a common thing put out in presidential elections? Are assertions, statements, views and beliefs of one side always immediately called "lies?" Will the republicans do this? Gosh, I hope not!

[From what I have seen, I have a feeling that if one had the desire, time and the ability to count the number of times the word "lies" has been used by the democrats even over just the last 4 months, they would astound us all.]

Calling a person a "liar" just because they say something you don't like is, is Confused so very childish... I'm so sick of it. These people have got to go...

Beatrice, welcome to the world of the Kerryites. It is now their mantra to decry any attack on their Policies as attacks on their Patriotism, any questioning of their past actions as slanderous Lies and an attack on their Patriotism, any questioning of why they took a certain political position as Lies and attacks on their Patriotism, you have the idea how it works.

What is truth?

The Kerry campaign did not call McCain a liar, and thus he will not respond to his good friend John. If he forgave him for prolonging his imprisonment, for adding to his torture, and for calling him a war criminal, what will a little political rhetoric do?

Note how this is headed on the Kerry site:

Quote:
The 2004 GOP Convention: Four Days Filled With Lies, Mischaracterizations, Distortions, And Half-Truths

Now, you are left with the task (with few specific exception) of categorizing which are lies, which are mischaracterizations, which are distortions, and which are half-truths.

There are a number of quotes specifically labeled "lies" or "distortions." McCain's statements are not so characterized. Maybe those are just "mischaracterizations." Expect the Arizona "Maverick" to get upset at having his words labeled "mischaracterizations"? With his luke-warm support of Bush (he is much more strident in his defense of Kerry), he will recognize this as not representing Kerry's feelings but simply political verbiage. Kerry knew before the speech what McCain would say, and McCain was very careful to puff up his friend even in his speech.

McCain will not take umbrage to this at all. He won't even feign indignation.
