I was under the impression that the whole "seared, seared" comment was taken from the printed March 27, 1986 Congressional Record, not a tape. But you raise an excellent point. At some point, there probably was an audio (and perhaps video, too) tape made of that day's floor speeches. Didn't C-SPAN start in '79? Surely they've got a copy. I have to wonder why we haven't seen his live testimony yet?
EDIT: Hmmm...according to C-SPAN, it wasn't until July 29, 1986 that the Senate voted in favor of permanent televised coverage of its proceedings. It's C-SPAN 2 that covers the Senate (shows how much C-SPAN I watch...) _________________

They like to ignore history. We were fighting to prevent exactly what did happen after the left Congress elected here in 1974 voted to cut the guts out of the South Vietnamese - no more air, sea or logistical support by the USA. NOTE: whose side is Klein representing? The purpose of the Vietnam War for the North Vietnamese was the unification of the two halves UNDER THEM; i.e. the victory of communism. Our goal was to prevent the UNDER THEM part of the reunification. The consequences of the Klein/communist goal's success is historical fact.
Talk about a circular ******** argument. These guys are unbelievable! _________________ For The Honor of the Fifty-Eight Thousand.

I thought it was on tape too. Having it printed (or might I say SEARED) in the Congressional Record isn't too shabby though. |

Unfortunately, that's the "gotcha" they're waiting for.
Then they say both men were confused, "fog of war" and all that and Kerry deserves a pass.
I think it needs to be explained that it's apples and oranges. Different times. Different locations. Different military objective. Different rivers. Different kinds of statements. |
Why don't they bring out the fact that JOHN Kerry said he was in Cambodia....5 miles inside the border! O'Neill said he was in Cambodia, along the border! Being along the border is the truth. Being 5 miles inside the border appears to be a flat lie! _________________ Misty

About the 180. Many of the records we seek from Kerry's record are declassified records which would indicate to me that they are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC VIEW. How can Kerry keep declassified military information from us?
His personal information is one thing, but military records that have been declassified is something entirely different, imo. What is wrong with the media that they have not gone after these records as a FOIA inquiry? _________________ Misty

The "O'Neill said he was in Cambodia" argument by the Kerry campaign is sooo disingenuous, as is their continual repeating of Bush's "the war on terrorism can't be won" statement last week, which he immediately clarified.
Both taken out of context - neither meant literally.
But that's all the Kerry goons have - they never refute any statements with provable facts.
Even when Kerry's actual Senate voting record was exposed vote after vote by Zell Miller, they just say it's not true - Kerry has always supported the military. And that is the extent of their argument.
Why can't the Kerry supporters see through this ridiculous charade?
How can anybody fall for their "attack and discredit the opponent" modus operandi? It boggles my mind!!! |
