Typical of the Boston Globe, a pro-Kerry journalist by the name of Patrick Healy has used the frontpage to run a puff piece favoring the Kerry camp's view of the controversy over his Vietnam service and anti-war activities. The serious, substantiated allegations of the SBVT are once again dismissed as just an effort by rightwing Republicans to smear Kerry.

You can protest this distorted so-called "news" by writing to Healy at phealy@globe.com .

Healy's article is at:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/09/06/vietnam_duality_challenges_kerry/

Innundate him with the facts about Kerry's service, the contradictions in Kerry's own account of his actions, the facts of his anti-war activities when he got in bed with the extreme Leftists who burned American flags while waving Viet Cong ones.

Let's get the word out to these arrogant media people who've made up their minds without the facts.

This is the text of the email I sent to Patrick Healy at the Globe:

Mr. Healy,

Why should Boston Globe readers who expect to have news delivered on the front page of the Globe be subjected to a "puff piece" on Kerry (Monday, Sept. 6) -- a piece that is blatantly unbalanced in its coverage of the very legitimate issues raised by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group, and others. Did you take the time to read John O'Neill's "Unfit for Command," or do you just take the word of the Kerry campaign staffers that the allegations are "unsubstantiated" -- or, more bluntly, as Stephanie Cutter keeps insisting "just lies."

Kerry's own statements over the years are filled with contradictions, and some of his fabrications have been well documented by now. Why not ask him why he is unwilling to release his full military service records, as Douglas Brinkley, his authorized biographer, has posed on objections to their release?

Frankly, I think your commentary belongs in the Ideas section of the globe, or in a paid advertisement section, from the Kerry campaign. News it is not, because it makes no pretense at balanced coverage and objectivity.

Chalk another one up for Kerry being a total a**hole to the SwiftVets.

From the above mentioned article...

"By comparison, Kerry chose last month to say nothing about the swift boat group's attacks for two weeks -- in part because he felt that discredited veterans, not political equals, were making the attacks and they were not worthy of his response."

Quote:
Part of the problem was the candidate. Kerry rarely opened up about Vietnam, leaving the glory for his crewmates to share. But he concentrated on overcoming his own Brahmin-bred modesty, advisers said, talking more than ever about how he had "bled for his country" and killed Viet Cong

Brahmin-bred modesty did not prevent the politically ambitious opportunist from slandering 2.5 million Vietnam veterans in 1971.
