Here's a copy of my letter to my Senators and Representative. Feel free to copy it and send to your congressmen.

Dear Senator or Representative,

I trust you will continue to oppose the attempts of the democratic party to renew the unwise and in my view unconstitutional so-called "assault weapons ban"

First of all, by definition, assault-weapons must be capable of selective-fire(fully-automatic fire). Therefore, none of the so-called assault weapons named in the assault-weapons ban, are even assault weapons because none of them are capable of firing in fully automatic fire. In addition, every one of those firearms named in the assault weapons ban are fully capable of being used for sporting purposes ranging from competitive marksmanship to hunting to informal plinking and target practice.

I wish the entire Congress would schedule a field trip to Camp Perry, Ohio for a lesson in the sporting uses of these unrightfully maligned firearms. Every year at Camp Perry thousands of competative marksmen from across our great country compete with those same "so-called assault weapons" such as the AR15 rifles and M1A rifles. What could be more sporting than developing the discipline to master the marksmanship of these fine tools of liberty?

I vote based on the 2nd amendment, period.
