Quote: | One of the memos says "Subject: CYA". I'm wondering when the slang term CYA was first put into common use as a familiar term. I don't remember people using it in 1972-73, the dates these memos were written. Does anyone know? |
My oldest recollection of it dates to 1982, when I was working SSPO (Just SP back then). Submariners used it often. I remember asking what the "CYA" on the spine of a file binder that had the software maintenance logs meant. I don't recall earlier usage, personally. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Neverforget,
Yeah I was in the Air Force from 1986 to 1993, working as a Spanish Cryptologic Linguist. From 93 to 2001, worked for DOJ as an Intelligence Analyst, and from 01 to present as a Special Agent with NCIS.
Been an interesting career so far and everything I've done is helping me analyze this whole freakin mess. Kerry has some serious problems internally. If he can't see that there are people inside his camp working against him, he is completely blind.
I still think CBS may get away with this, but we will see.
We need to keep hitting this hard. Wish I could do more, but as I stated before, it's too political. _________________ Everybody has their own truth. The facts are what matter and you can't fudge the facts! |

Now, on the lighter side of things!
I better rush this over to Rather's office, so he can get this out before he gets fired!

I keep hearing about how the documents have been copied and faxed and copied. The point is that supposedly many generations of copies have been made.
Who made these copies and with so many copies around, why are we just hearing about the mystery documents now? Have they been in the hands of the best secret keepers in the world?
Nothing adds up. |

That was Rather’s smoke and mirrors story to throw everybody off, meaning every copy that is out there can’t be used against him. It seems like he said this to add confusion into the air.
No offence Sir, but guess what?….It has worked well, because you believed him. He is shameless.
If you go to cbs.com you can get the original file and down load it. _________________ Please Mr. Kerry Sign Form #180 Now!

It wasn't that I believed him, we're talking about Dan Rather.
My point was, Rather needs to be confronted with the question of why is this new information if so many copies have been made. Who made them, where are the others? |

That seems to be their new spin all right. Nobody but CBS and the ******** know what they are talking about because CBS has the first generation copy. Whatever, these people are going down. |

Hodges now claims that CBS misled him, when he was interviewed about the Killian memos.
My letter to CBS:
To the 60 Minute News Team:
You have a serious credibility problem with that Dan Rather story about President Bush's National Guard service, and with the reliability of the documents used.
This looks like CBS' effort at a coverup -- to conceal truth.
Well, don't preach to us ever again about how you practice objective, balanced journalism!
Clear mistakes were made: failure to note that Killian's relatives held a different, conflicting view from the one Rather was pushing, deception with regard to Hodges, a key alleged source for verifying Killian's "thinking at the time" (Hodge claims he was deceived by Rather), among other problems.
Rather's so-called expert is a handwriting expert, not a typewriter expert.
This stinks, and it impeaches CBS' credibility. _________________ Ted Harwood, Ph.D.

Gen Hodges, Killian's supervisor, claims CBS misled him when they told him about the Killian memos. Hodges is certain the memos are fraudulent.
