Standard Form-180 (SF-180) is a universal form covering all services, including the U.S. Coast Guard which is only under the Department of Defense (DOD) during a tiime of war.

The form is a request for a release of records concerning the person directly (personnel records) It is not used for any other purpose. The form authorizes the person named to receive copies of documents from the veteran's service record and is signed by the veteran.

Not only would all fitness reports be in the record, but much more. I do not know exactly what documents are contained in Kerry's service record since contents can and do varry according to what information is contained in the records provided by the military service. The posibility exists for instance that if an admonition from a superior was issued Kerry, a copy of that admonition would be in the service record.

re: the Bronze Star incident
I think the FAQ should concentrate on Kerry's confusing
after-action-report, in which the shrapnel (from an ealier in the
day demolition accident (no enemy) , is mixed in with the
Rassmann rescue. Explain to the reader that the purple heart
citation is not deserved. The report is, on purpose, deceptive.
Explain to the reader that the medal citation is not first hand
evidence, it is written based on reports.
.
IMO, the Bronze Star citation, will boil down to bickering over
whether or not, there was enemy fire. Since you can't prove
a negative, I think most people will give Kerry a pass.
.
The FAQ should be broken up by incident. Carefully explain
that Kerry acted with deceit.

Swiftvets should point out that...
Kerry should have resigned his commission before he had meetings with the enemy, to not do so (resign), was dishonorable.
................
Kerry's website is implying that Kerry's service in the Navy was 1966 to 1970.
If you don't believe me, go to http://www.johnkerry.com/about/john_kerry/bio.html and look at the top-right of the page.
................
You've just got to make the point that Kerry was a commissioned officer till 1978.

THANK YOU ALL!

This is just super! Keep it rolling, even if you have time enough to write one Q&A.

If you see a question that is coming up repeatedly, please write in the question, bold it, and then provide an answer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Bush was AWOL, Bush didn't complete his service adequately, blah, blah, blah....

A fairly definitive answer is given in the fact that he has an honorable discharge, alone.

For civilians, that might not be enough. For moonbats, it will certainly not be enough.

So here is a thread that consolidates a LOT of information about the President's service with the National Guard:
