I'm sure this has been answered, previously.

But in copying a chart from DOD on rank abbreviations, I noticed that LT junior grade was shown as LTJG. But the Zumwalt citations for Kerry use LT (JG). Anyone know why? |

FWIW, I've seen all of the following in use on official documents and reports:

LTJG, LT(JG), LTjg and LT(jg) _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Wasn't mandatory, in other words. |

				| Typically a standard would be followed, and the abbreviations corrected in official documents. But somehow I think considering Zumwalt's stature at the time, no one would be willing to correct him anyway. |

The standard between '65 and '69 was LT (jg).

Verbally, it was lieutenant whether "full" or "jg". _________________
