His DD214 on departing from EAD shows "Block 13b - NO DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE ISSUED AT THE TIME OF SEPARATION", because he, like most reserve officers leaving AD, remained in the reserves. He was finally issued an honorable discharge when the Navy ended his reserve service in 1978.
Nothing unusual, except one has to wonder why candidate Kerry didn't resign his commission in '72 when his reserve obligation was over. |
