I have a question.....
So far, all I have heard is that the documents are "fake". What is this supposed to mean ?
1. Are parts or all of the documents fake ?
2. Is the content of the documents made up ?
3. Is the signature fake ?
4. What is the difference between a fake and a forgery ?
My blood is still boiling from Dan Rather's statement : "The documents are accurate but not authentic". ROFLMAO ! |

RE: Swiftsoxs
From the Freedictionary.com:
Noun 1. forgery - a copy that is represented as the original <counterfeit>, <imitation> <copy> - a secondary representation of an original; "she made a copy of the designer dress" <fake>, <sham>, <postiche> - something that is a counterfeit; not what it seems to be
2. forgery - criminal falsification by making or altering an instrument with intent to defraud <falsehood>, <falsification> - the act of rendering something false as by fraudulent changes (of documents or measures etc.) or counterfeiting <crime>, <law-breaking> - (criminal law) an act punishable by law; usually considered an evil act; "a long record of crimes"
Answers
1. Yes
2. Yes, and except for the M$ Word, they did a professional job too!
3. Yes
4. Fake is slang for forgery; forgery is a legal term
Review
As Elaine Bennis (Seinfield) once said, "Fake, fake, fake, fake, fake."

eXcel,
The signatures on the forgeries did NOT come from a legitimate document. The signatures are forgeries. That's one of the (many) things that have been used to determine that the documents are forgeries.
Here's a link to a great article on The Shape of Days blog that shows the signatures from the forgeries with several signatures from known authentic documents. You don't have to be a handwriting expert to see the differences.
