CBS Nixes '60 Minutes' Story on Iraq War

Quote:
NEW YORK - CBS News has shelved a "60 Minutes" report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be "inappropriate" to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday................

............CBS News spokeswoman Kelli Edwards would not elaborate on why the timing of the Iraq report was considered inappropriate.

Maybe because it was full of bais BS or out right lies, and they knew they would get busted again.

your theory seems much more plausible than the cBS stated reason for not airing the story!

CBS can't take another firestorm that would have been created by their overwhelming political bias. After a near fatal drunken spree that has lasted for 30 years this network may be on the verge of discovering sobriety. They need to follow a strict 12-Stap Plan (just like AA).

I am confident that this group can fill in the blanks and define the 12-steps for the noodleheads at CBS.

Step 1. Dump Dan Rather
Step 2. Dump Mary Mapes
Step 3. anyone care to fill in from here?

Inappropriate? Who are they kidding? The only way they wouldn't run a story like that is if it was full of provable lies, and they fear getting caught again, or it was helpfull to Bush. Terry McCauliff or Joe Lockhart must have told them to hold it. As long as Rather and Mapes are part of CBS nothing they produce can be believed.[/b]

I can't find the link now, but I read yesterday that the episode was about the forged uranium documents from Niger. According to the article, the premise of the show was to demonstrate the incompetence of the Administration because it was fooled by forgeries.

Ironic!

Yes, truly ironic! However, from what I have read, the 911 Commission report and Britain's Butler Commission report conclude that the underlying Niger uranium story is true! Also, unlike Rather who to this day still claims the TANG documents are not forgeries, the Bush administration quickly retracted their assertion once the Niger document authenticity was challenged. It is not surprising that CBS decided not to invite this comparison right now.

1 - We admitted we were powerless to know the true from the false - that our news had become unbelievable.
2 - Came to believe that an Outside Power could restore us to credibility.
3 - Made a decison to turn our notes and our documents over to the care of an Unbiased Third Party.
4 - Made a thorough and fearless partisan inventory of our newsroom.
5 - Admitted to the Public, to ourselves and to the Unbiased Third Party the exact nature of our wrongs.
6 - Became willing to have the Unbiased Third Party report all of our journalistic defects.
7 - Humbly asked Him to remove our defective employees.
8 - Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9 - Made direct amends, on the air, to such persons, except when to do so would hurt our candidates.
10 - Continued to take stock of our stories, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
11 - Sought through prayer and begging to save our careers.
12 - Having had a political awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry the message of impartiality, and to practice these principles in all of our reporting.
