Before the rally for Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry began at the University of Minnesota on Friday, between 100 and 120 anti-Kerry demonstrators staged their own rally in support of President Bush.

The group included military veterans and members of the Minnesota College Republicans.

Much of the dissent was focused on Kerry's antiwar efforts after his combat tour in Vietnam.

"This is a man whose whole career is based on hypocrisy," said Kimani Jefferson, a 1998 graduate of the Air Force Academy. "How can a man go and call his comrades in arms 'war criminals' and then beg for their support when he is running for president?"
