I stumbled across your website while searching records on Kerry due to a debate I'm emboiled in on my site - http://www.darefugees.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=21281&whichpage=1&ARCHIVE=
I want to thank you for your Unique perspective on Kerry, and would like permission to link to your site on my homepage. I sincerely appreciate the fortitude it took to step up and be heard and to let others know about who Kerry is.
I look forward to interacting here as well. _________________ ________________

Welcome aboard El diablo, batten down your hatches, hold your nose and jump on in. Cannonball's are preferred!
I'll check out your site, but feel free to post anytime!

Cannonballs? I'll do you one better - The lemmings have arrived and boy do we get into everything!
If anyone can help - Did Kerry's crewmembers approve of his presidential bid? Did any object to him trying to be commander in Chief?
Names would be nice if there were objectors. _________________ ________________

Lemmings are welcome here. I'd suggest that you go back and read a weeks threads and get informed on what's been said here.

Hello, el Diablo,
Most of Kerry's former enlisted crewmembers are supporting him, as are two of the officers with whom he served.
At least two of the enlisted crewmembers are paid to speak and appear with him. I don't know about the rest of the former enlisteds or officers.
I believe there were 19 officers who served with Kerry in the two Coastal Divisions in which he was stationed in Vietnam.
Twelve of them began Swift Boats Veterans For Truth. If you go to the main page, you'll have links to how they started and why. There is audio available of their first press conference, and each of the men speak briefly of why they cannot support John Kerry. I'd recommend that anyone listen to the press conference, especially if they're pro-Kerry.
It raises a huge number of questions about his fitness to lead, all by itself.
How can it be that John Kerry witnessed and participated in war crimes, when NONE of the Swifts from this group remember such a thing.
Was John Kerry creating his own little foot excursions out into the bush to conduct raids and kill civilians?
Swift boats didn't operate alone - there were always two or more in an operation. So, where did Kerry see all of this stuff that no one else saw?
Good luck with your debate - I've found that it's about as productive as shouting down a well, but if you keep bringing up the questions that Kerry refuses to answer, at least lurkers and people who genuinely wonder about what the fuss is over will be exposed to ideas not sanctioned by the Kerry Kampf. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I am fairly sure just their expenses are paid.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Doug,
I don't really know the answer to this question and we'll probably never know. One think is apparent. This group is stumping with him regularly. Expenses? I'd posit that it's more than that.
These guys are regular Americans with families and financial obligaions. Spending 2, 3, or 4 days a week on the campaign trail for expenses rings a little flat to me.
But, then again, maybe I'm just a Kerry hating cynic! _________________ On Sale! Order in lots of 100 now at velero@rcn.com Free for the cost of shipping All profits (if any, especially now) go to Swiftvets. The author of "Sink Kerry Swiftly" ---ASPB |

If c-span is still hosting the video, it's even better to be able to watch it.
Some of the men are obviously ill-at-ease in front of the cameras and microphones. Some are emotional, some have trouble with their statements - I found myself cheering each of them on. "Come on, you can do this! You're doing great!"
A couple of real "YES!" moments in there.
And some humor, too.
I don't think any sane person could watch them and NOT understand that this is coming from a deep sincere conviction and a sense of duty.
Bless them all - they did their time in hell, and once again, they're serving their country, no matter to what sort of personal pains it puts them. Bravo, Swifties! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Enjoy reading the posts, But we did operate alone , at least my crew did, in fact we operated alone quite a bit. There was also a lot of patrols with 2, 3 or even 10 boats.

Really -- alone? In my limited experience, we always had at least three boats.
I can't imagine a boat operating alone -- at least not down in our area. If you had trouble, you'd be screwed, big time.
What were you doing, and where? Was it up near Danang, or out of An Thoi?

In Riverine and River Patrol it was very rare for a single boat to operate alone. Normal interdiction patrol, which is mostly what I did, was done in 2 boat teams. I can remember only operating "alone" twice and both of those times were escort missions for lightly armed Army LCM8s.
Swifts working offshore rather than inshore in Sealord did work mainly alone. That may be what he's alluding to. _________________ On Sale!
