Anyone notice that Mansoor Ijaz has been absent the political scene for several months? I wrote to his company and was told that he was very occupied with his businesses. I don't know if this is significant but he seems to have good information whenever Pakistan is involved.

I noticed that also. He was big on the Zawahiri story in March. He even had the story that Zawahiri had been killed. I haven't seen him since then though. I thought he might have ended his contract with Fox.

I think that Bin Laden is dead and has been that way since Tora Bora. Trying to figure what goes on in these guys' heads is next to impossible but I would think that he would have made a video by now if he were alive. My only doubt in this area comes from the possible stagecraft and the propaganda value of him waiting to resurface after some sort of catastrophic strike on the US.

I think that the larger threat is Zawahiri. He was, and probably still is, the operational head of what's left of Al Qaeda.

Zawahiri is the real evil one, and probably the real head of Al Queda. When we get him we will have scored a most significant coup.

And unlike bin Laden, I see no downside to getting
Z-man before the election. The Kerry Klown Krowd
will not be able to claim "WOT over" because it
would undermine their "eye off the ball" argument
that we really need to focus on bin Laden.

If he were alive he would be running that mouth of his, because in his sick mind he is a legend in his own time. The degenerate is dead. The terrorists do not want to leak that out, if they did, they would be perceived as the losers. Twisted Evil

I wonder what Patrick Bergen thinks of this - or if he'd even say.

Somebody has him and he is dead. I think there have been many steps to take and agreements to make before it is revealed. May include DNA or just posturing with Pakistan or Iran. All the other evil one's must be taken out. OBL is not my obsession.

What would one of these countries want from us in return for giving him up?????

What is the scoreboard on our getting the leader types of AlQuaeda & Taliban? Anybody have a ready list?

OBL or UBL?

UBL is the official US goverment spelling. And Fox News uses it too.

OBL is used by CBS, ABC, and NBC.

FOX News has had a guy on claiming that OBL was seen in Teheran by two different operatives as of last Oct. That OBL and his son have been there since escaping from Tora Bora and where they direct the events in Iraq. He is keeping quiet suposedly to give the Iranian mullahs some cover.

IMO, there is far more evidence that UBL is in Iran than any where else.

Iran is a far safer place for him than Afghanistan or Pakistan. Iran is still the hub if militant Islam. Iran is the most pro terror state in the world. Western intelligence agencies have less access to Iran than anywhere in the world except North Korea.

Iran also puts UBL in a much better position to influence events in Iraq.

Hiding out in Iran would also put the US in a very difficult diplomatic position should we have solid information establishing his presence there.

I think he's dead and has been dead since Tora Bora.

Suppose he is, and died there from some disease or
complications from battle injuries.

Would the Iranians announce it to the world?
Short of that, would they privately inform the US?
Or would they keep the corpse on ice to use as a
later bargaining chip?

If UBL was smart (I know, a big IF) I think he would have gone the opposite direction from his troups, heading straight for Iran instead of Tora Bora. His right-hand man is a physician and could operate a portable kidney machine so he could really have gone just about anywhere. But I think the argument that Iran was the safest place for him is quite compelling. His silence, of course, is the price he pays for that safety. Of course, if he's only a figurehead then he might have outlived his usefulness anyway.
