It's How You Play the Game
Posted by Stephen Green · 14 October 2004 ·
If Drudge has it right, then the Kerry-Edwards campaign is going to do its damnedest to turn our fine nation into a banana republic [referenced the Kerry-Edwards campaign handbook on charging voter intimidation].

To these guys, winning office is more important than the sanctity of elections. Holding power is more important than the Constitution. Much as I despise at least half of what most Republicans stand for, they don't seem nearly as willing to trash the system they're trying to run. Too many Democrats, especially at the national level, just don't care that our system, our nation is far more important than any single election...

...The rules don't matter. The reputation of the country doesn't matter. The political health of the nation doesn't matter. Power matters.

I don't mean to say that Republicans haven't used dirty tricks, or won't in the future. But I have yet to see them pull anything as crass as replacing a losing candidate with a more-popular one just weeks before election day, and in violation of state law. I have yet to see Republicans calling on the world's most corrupt international organization, run largely by apparatchiks from the world's most brutal dictatorships, to pass judgment on how we run our elections. I have yet to see the Republicans encouraging their own to commit fraud by shouting "Fraud!" where none yet exists, putting at risk everything we've built here in the last 228 years...

*****************

Read the whole post - it's spot on about why this election matters so very, very much. The democrats will do anything...anything to get and keep their power. It's beginning to feel very evil to me....

That was so well put.

I hope as Ron Silver stated on Hardball one night that "when polled most people say of course and I am voting for The Dem ticket , but when they get to the booth they'll vote for the S- o B that makes them feel safe!!"

There's an easy way to tell what the Kerry/Edwards campaign have done or are going to do. Just change the name to Kerry/Edwards when they complain about someone else. Now look at what Kerry/Edwards are going to on Nov. 2: "We all know the Republicans are going to try to steal the election by scaring people and confusing people," the top DNC source explained.

It is evil, MJB. They are indeed trying to turn the most powerful nation on earth into a banana republic, albeit a banana republic with a prosperous socialist government, all the better for them to rape and plunder. They are attempting to turn our grand and glorious experiment into democracy into abject failure.

You know, I am a history buff. And I can tell you that the ONE thing that sets American democracy apart from all others, the ONE thing that has made American democracy the most enduring, most sought after, most copied form of government, is our peaceful succession. If you read the Constitution you can see how hard the founders worked on carefully constructing a framework which allows for just that.

Since the 90's the Terry McAuliffe/James Carville/Paul Begala/Mikey Moore/George Soros New DirtyDeal Democrats have been tearing at the fabric of American democracy. They are despicable, they are traitors, and they must be stopped. American politics must brought to sanity.

Kimmymac - Right on! I was a history major, and I agree with you 100%! Between this problem and the media not being fair and objective, we have big problems. We need to get on with the job of getting back to where we are supposed to be. Thanks for the great post!Very Happy

Thanks, and it is great to be back! But I must say that New England is really beautiful, and I enjoyed myself tremendously. As I said, I love history, and New England is filled with such a sense of history. I picnic-ed at a very old, old cemetary, where several generations of my family have been laid to rest, and just soaked up the peace of the place. Thought about stuff, like how we all die eventually, but love and family endure through the ages.

Met some great people, too. Lots of Bush supporters, much more than the OIM would have you believe. After my morning run I stopped in at a little Greek-American coffee place--turns out the owners have a daughter in Iraq, not too far from where my son is. We were there 3 days, and I went in every morning to visit with them. My last day there we said a prayer for *our kids*--meaning ALL our kids--every serviceman and woman.

Went to the Charleston shipyard, they have an exhibit on the Barbary pirates. Seems some things never change. And other than meeting those great people at the coffee place, the best thing was eating at a little restaurant in Little Italy--going completely off my constant calorie counting, and having TWO canneloni! Very Happy
