I realize I'm being sentimental and speaking purely from a woman's point of view but when George W Bush looked straight at Laura and said before the audience and millions of television viewers with heartfelt sincerity, 'I can't tell you how much I love my wife,' -- I believe this single statement -- showing the dearness and humanity of the man -- did more than all the debating points, and even more than his good government programs -- to gain him the 6% single-mom, pink collar 'undecideds'.

I liked his last comment................

"I am asking for your vote."

He seemed to convey that he knows that our vote is a sacred trust that we honor a candidate by giving to him/her. It was a very effective touch.

It is called humility..a rare gift in a politician..I was and am very proud of how he conducted himself last night. The total endearment, honesty, compassion and faith he displayed should be honored among Americans..and this American does..100% .

At that moment, me, miss non emotional had a tear in my eye..and it was then that my husband grabbed my hand..and I knew at that point what Laura felt..you see, we do not need fancy words..actions, ever so simple matter most of all..I know as should the American people that this man, W, will do all he can to protect those he loves..although corny..he loves the American people..and takes us family..in his words, "We have been through alot together..and I am asking for your vote"..How can you put it any more perfectly..Oh, and BTW..he has mine!! Wink

I thought if touching when he said that among the things he prays for are his "little girls." Great family sentiment--always Daddy's girls.

I think it's kinda funny that we so seldom see humility and "realness" in a politician, that when we do, it moves us to tears.

GWB is just a plain ole guy. Grant it, he was born into a family of wealth and privilege, but it hasn't ruined him or made him "high minded", like it's done to Kerry.

How many on here have seen the movie "Tin Cup" with Kevin Costner? One of the characters in the movie was played by Don Johnson. He reminds me of Kerry. He always played the crowd and PRETENDED to like people and kids. But behind the scenes and when he thought no one was looking, he was actually repulsed by the "common man" and thought he was better than everyone. He just acted the part when he thought people were looking.

Kevin Costner was just a common joe golfer with no pretenses or airs about him. He just played for the love of the game. That's GWB. He does politics because he just loves this country and loves people. He wants the best for America. He believes in the goodness of this country.

Like Zell Miller said "he's the same man on Sunday morning that he is on Saturday night." Smile

GWB is one of the most decent moral men we have ever had in the highest office in the land.

When he spoke about his love for his wife it was in the same manner and tone, with the same look I have seen so many times from my husband. This man is real. He is not fake or put on. He brings dignity and honor to our country and is a man I am proud of as I am proud of my husband who stands for the same morals as GWB. We can trust what we see is real, not show.

Kerry did not show the same love and adoration that GWB did as he spoke about his wife. Instead Kerry spoke about his mother.

Hmmmmmmm.......on JKs mother's death bed she said to him, "integrity, integrity, integrity". Hmmmmmmm......I wonder if she was trying to tell him to get some? We know he has none.

I heard (didn't get to see the debate) on talk radio that Kerry's comment on TH was limited to mentioning her wealth and then quickly going on to talk about his mother. Eeeeiiiiiikkkkk, I bet he sleeps on the couch for that one (or his allowance held back! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil )
