Okay, I guess this is going to have to be Codenamed Koppelgate.....

I have to turn in, my pajamas are insisting that I check my eyelids for light leaks.

Keep the home fires burning.

Alfred E Newman's forces grow from 12 to 20. His pro Kerry story is at variance with Kerry's auto bio but O'neil's being troublesome!
We've concluded this incoherent news story and how dare you utter otherwise! We've one of 3 citations to quote and nevermind there are others!

In another era Halberstrom (sic) records how Kopple was regaled by the CIA with steak dinners and native girls in Laos during the battle in the Plain of Jars and said not a word.

I recorded it on DVD and reviewed it, this is what the marker says:
LIET SI
LUUV_V_PHOM(maybe N)
N SINH 1916
O. V D.U KICH (there is not a period between D and U, but it is blocked out if no period between)
H. 5 12_1_1969

(this is what it appeared to me, there might be a M/N mixed up or a S/5 or period/underscore)

I don't know which method the VN use for date format. Is that date 12/1/1969 meant to be Dec 1, 1969 or Jan 12, 1969. (neither of which work out for Koppel, btw.)

The date on the grave is 12 January, 1969. They do day/month/year. This is the precise date of the incident.

How can that be so? Vietnam vets on this board, put on you thinking caps.

OK, the rest of you can do the same, but the VN vets should come up with the reason the date is correct.

WHAT A joke! did they say how many vc people were there? vc soldies I mean? I taped it.... guess I can review it....

so, they proved Kerry is a liar..... Kerry says 1 vc was there..... they say more.... I forget who wrote that after action report??? Kerry, I assume.... so it pointed out his lie..... 3x around I think....

wrote more than 1 on the AAR
Kerry says only 1 vc was there in his books ...
now they are saying more than 1 vc again..... is this a Kerry flip-flop ???

and wasn't that 'forged' scenery???? forged people?

Koppel must be related to Trump !

Bravo f'n Zulu, Mr O'Neill.

Teddy tried to punk John & he wouldn't have any of it. Some quick thotz...

1- John understands in order to get BACK ON network tv he had to come on strong. John was the aggressor, thank goodness. It makes for good tv, maybe he'll get a return call....being aggressive was his one & only shot ot get it.

2- 'Way to go on' showing the pages of teh book & reading Kerry's own words (that hang himself).

3-MOST IMPORTANT...O'neill told Koppel (the world, actually) that this incident wasn't the only contended Kerry event by the swifts. The show was layed out as such that you'd think the only thing UNFIT FOR COMMAND had against jf'nk was this SSM event. O'Neill wouldn't have any of that stuff, and set it right.

Well done!

I think the battle the villagers talked about happened on Jan 12, 1969. Kerry was not involved in that battle.

I am very sure I heard Ted Koppel say "February 20"
not February 28.

Personally, even if every word the hamlet witnesses said was true, how it is such a big deal? It still was not a "numerically superior force", the witnesses said they did not "hit anything" while firing (other than the initial B-40), no witness said they saw Kerry shoot the VC, and they mentioned they didnt capture the main weapons cache. Even if everything was true, I dont think it is that big of a deal since Kerry's own words in his book as well as Rood's Tribune piece conflict with Nightline's report. I agree it is a bit much for Nightline to go to Vietnam to search for this story, and I think the most telling thing was when Koppel said at the end "Once we've checked it as thoroughly as we can, we're in the business of reporting what we've found, not concealing it." (paraphrased, but very close quote). Interesting to note, they did not say a WORD about the multiple SS citations or Kerry's own report in his book, if that is not concealing, I dont know what is! I was sitting watching the show, saying which Silver Star Citation is that a quote from?!

Kopple did not check out the story. He put it on the air as soon as he could.

It was like...here's some folks speaking Vietnamese...(I guess)....We're in Vietnam....(If you say so).....and then Koppel claiming to have proven Kerry to be telling the truth....it was crap through and through......everthing had to be taken on faith.....Please! They probably shot that down in Florida.

How funny...isn't it great that we don't have to trust the MSM any longer...they need to prove themselves to most average Americans after RAthERGATE...it's just too bad that we seem to have a large chunk of the populace that are fairly apathetic...oh well, we labor on!

Go Swift Vets and POWs...we're marching with you now!! 100%...

Koppel, ABC, cBS and the others alphabet MSMs are just so foolish as they watch the crumbling of their precious (read it like Gollum)....

Our cameras mean more than your documents...we can't read them! said Alfred E. Newman.

I love you John and you certainly held your cool but holding up doc's didn't work.
In my couldawouldashoulda: Ted, either your describing a different incident or your wrong.

Bingo, give that man a prize! Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the prize.

It's a deleted by moderator bumper sticker. (Just kidding, the moderator didn't delete anything -- just those few of you who know me are likely to get the joke)

Anyway, Tet in 1969 was . . . . drum roll . . . . . February 17!
