In the vice presidential debate... John Edwards mentioned how proud he was to be a trial lawyer... and went on to tell a story about how he had represented little Suzie Q who was injured in a storm drain, yada yada yada. Tonight I was at a party with a judge and he said that when he heard Edwards drone on with that sob story he wished Cheney had asked him "And did you take a half or a third of Little Suzie's settlement?". I know it's a little late.. but wouldn't that have been great if Cheney had rebutted to that effect? Just a thought.

Maybe I missed it, but as I remember they were discussing large jury awards for medical malpractice suits, and then Edwards started going off on his story about this case. It seemed pointless, because I didn't get the payoff, i.e. how did this story support his point? Did I just zone out or something?

I read somewhere recently that the norm for the attorney's cut in these personal injury suits is now near half, with 60% not uncommon.

So much for enough money to take care of "little Suzie's" special needs for the rest of her life, hm?

Poor Suzie, she will be blessed if she has enough for her first quarter tuition fees during her first year of College. Brrrrrrrrrr........ people like Edwards are worthless to us.
