Could not have happened to a nicer guy http://www.drudgereport.com
Quote: | COMEDY CENTRAL's 'DAILY SHOW' has experienced surprise audience erosion -- despite a publicity push by host Jon Stewart.
Stewart, who announced last week that he plans to support John Kerry, pulled 1,040,000 total viewers for the month of September -- down 7% from August, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Jumbo hype from media writers and a bestselling book apparently have failed to translate into any TV audience improvement. |

I'd like to see reports on how many people have decided not to fund the careers of people like Bruce Springsteen and others that they use to adore. I am so glad I wasn't that interested in politics in my younger years. Didn't realize I wasn't supposed to like what these bands stood for. Now that I am aware, I can't listen to their music or watch their movies and wouldn't consider paying a cent for anything they do. |

Thanks for posting this tidbit! Now for some ranting:
Hum, sounds like a tactic used by the 'vast, right-wing conspiracy.'
Indeed, IMHO, Steward has lost his vail of objectivity, and more
importantly, his humor.
I watched NBC's West Wing regularly up until the middle of
last season, when they spoke one disparaging line about my political
party too many. Sure, I know it's fiction, and I know they have a
right to say whatever they want, but I won't sit there and watch it.
I doubt I'll tune in to the new season, even though they're adding actors
to fix their bias problem. Same for the Dixie Chicks...
Like their music, hate their politics, ergo, they're toast in my house.
As Laura Ingraham's book suggests, "Shut up and sing!" would serve
the Chicks well to take heed.
Has anyone else noticed the new IBM ads pushing France? What the...?
Someone at the ad agency must have shorted their IBM stock!
Lastly, I refuse to sit though ads -- or patronize those who use ads with ringing phones!

LOL rtdf: my curse was growing up in a very politically astute household, and not ever being able to look the other way. Even as a teen. I used to lecture my friends on drug use, telling them how even casual marijuana users can be responsible for pulling down govts in places like Central America. Everything is related to everything, I would argue. Most of my peer group regarded me like this or this I was *super* straight, and most of it was because of my political awareness. One of the things that bothers me the most is how the Islamofascists import great quantities of opium into the US to sell to American kids, and no one connects the dots between drugs and terrorism. The pukin' terror nazis even laughingly refer to the drugs as "candy" because they know most of the people taking the drugs are children.
Hey,on a related topic when the Dixie Blix ran their mouths, one of the local CW stations pulled their stuff for about a year. I sure didn't miss them; I think they sound like cats in high pitched heat.
Vote with your remote, dang straight. And don't let them get away with their smart @$$ remarks. Keep those cards and letters coming! |

rtdf...I was a huge Springsteen fan in the 80's and even made it to his Born in the USA tour. I thought he was so patriotic. Huh...little did I realize how NAIVE I was....LOL.
sround, I loved West Wing the first season it was out, even though I knew that Martin Sheen was a left wing radical. By the second season I was so sick of the politics from the show I quit. I loved American President (still do) even though it's by the same producers. |

Re: nccjones
I know both "the American President" and "The West Wing" were
written by Aaron Sorkin, although TWW is not written by him now.
I agree with "The American President" is a really good movie
(can't keep my eyes off of Benning--she really shines in this film),
except for the fact that Rob "Meathead" Reiner just had to spoil it
in the last five minutes by the radical "get me all the guns" line.
But then I snear back, "Yah Rob, come get my guns...you'll get all my ammo first!" _________________

But, the beginning of that speech, about the job of the President is all about character.... WOW... that's what this is all about.... Kerry's lack of character.....
(as to the guns.... I wish that someone would figure out how many crimes are prevented by civilians with guns..... every once in a while there is a story about some elderly person taking out a home invader with the gun in the nightstand... but this kind of stat would be good....
sorry to go off topic...... |

It's a sad state of affairs when we can no longer listen to regular televison. I don't even tune into networks anymore. Nada. Not ever. I watch FOX and a little of MSNBC. That's it. Never CNN, ABC, NBC or CBS. I also ONLY listen to talk radio with Rush Limbaugh.
I feel like the liberals have run off the viewers. I do not go to movies because I cannot watch an actor who has "come out" and separate the person from the character. It's too bad they don't get it. Why would I want to see or hear from George Clooney, Sean Penn, Ben Afleck or Matt Damon. Forget it. I won't contribute one red cent to see or hear from the idiots. _________________ Nomorelies Make a donation HERE |

this kills me... the fact that you even care that an "anchor" on a comedy show lost his "objectivity"?!!?
it's a comedy show. not to be taken seriously. and I don't think there was ever any doubt as to jon stewart's political leanings.
I just turn off what I don't like to watch on my tv. |

Re: GIaunt
I agree the first part of the "American President"
speech is great. I think you can probably find loads of pro-gun
anecdotes on the NRA site.
BTW, you're not off topic...you're geedunking, remember? _________________

As the Du crowd always say.....We are violating their Fist Admendment Rights by not watching or partaking in their veiws.
The only network TV I watch is for the sports (huge college basketball and pro football fan) Other than that it is Fox News, History Channel, or Discovery. I just can't see wasting what little time I have in s(h)itcoms or the reality crap. |
