The talking heads make much of the relatively low Right-Track/Wrong-Track poll numbers.

However, in this election, wonder if this is really an indicative question?

The majority ~60% who respond 'Wrong-Track'-- Perhaps that figure is split between 30% Deaniacs who think Bush is too hard-tail, and 30% true hard-tails who think Bush is NOT HARD-TAIL ENOUGH?

If that is the case-- It is hardly likely that right-wingers who think Bush is not far-enough-right, would ever vote Kerry?

Pulling numbers out of the air, a 40% Right-Track, plus perhaps a 30% Wrong-Track-Because-Bush-Is-Not-Conservative-Enough, might equal 70% that would never vote for Kerry?

When I respond to polls, I usually give a Wrong-Track answer (as a Libertarian, think both Dems and Repubs are misguided), but could never vote Kerry-- Kerry would be an "Even More Wronger Track"!

Right track/wrong track is worthless. If I were asked that question I could see anwering either way. I think the country is on the wrong track about things I disagree with and on the right track in other areas. Why that question is even in polls I'm not certain.

Agreed, in this election it might be worthless.

I think it is assumed by pollsters, that folks who respond "Wrong Track", are likely to vote against the incumbent.

If you want to go North, but the driver is going NorthEast-- That's a Wrong Track, until you discover that the replacement driver wants to go South... That's "Even More Wronger" (GRIN)
