Bowing to extreme pressure and threats of lawsuits from shareholders, Sinclair Broadcasting announced yesterday it has cancelled its planned broadcast of the complete film, Stolen Honor, a documentary which displays the effects upon American Vietnam War POW's of John Kerry's anti-war actions after he returned from Vietnam. Instead, Sinclair announced, most of its stations will air "a special one-hour news program entitled A POW Story: Politics, Pressure and the Media", which Sinclair says will focus in part on the use of documentaries and other media to influence voting. While parts of Stolen Honor will be shown, it will be in the context of "the broader discussion" about the media.
Nothing, not even the ads by the Swift Boat Veterans, has caused so much immediate consternation among the Kerry activists and supporters as Sinclair's attempt to air this film. Having seen the film, which most of you will not see, the Kerry camp knew that if this documentary were aired, coming as it would upon the heels of the successful SwiftVets and POW's for Truth campaign, Kerry's chances to win the election were doomed. And so, the Kerry people pulled all the stops--they procured the services of attorney William Lerach, one of the nation's leading lawyers on lawsuits against companies by shareholders. Lerach, claiming to represent "shareholders who might sue" notified Sinclair of that intention. Additionally, Media Matters, an organization which bills itself as a non-partisan media watch-dog group, but is in fact a stalking horse for liberal critics of conservative media and commentators, also said it was underwriting a potential lawsuit by shareholders "who think the controversy [over the film] has hurt [Sinclair]". Of course, this begs the question of who caused the controversy--had there not been such a furor raised by the Kerry organization, there would, of course, be no controversy. No controversy--no harm to Sinclair. To help sooth Sinclair's pain, Deborah Rappaport, a noted and generous contributor to liberal causes, let it be known that she was offering Sinclair upwards of $1 Million if it would broadcast the film Going Upriver, a more sympathetic portrayal of Kerry's Vietnam War service. [Gee..I wonder if it includes Kerry's fictional boat trip into Cambodia?]
So, what is the harm in Sinclair's capitulation? It isn't to me, because I ordered and have viewed the DVD, which does indeed portray a moving--and infuriating--account of the use by the North Vietnamese POW captors of Kerry's actions and statements as a member of VVAW and a participant in the Winter Soldier Movement. The harm isn't to most of those in the Western U.S. because, except for the People's Republic of Northern California and Washington State, most of Sinclair's affiliate stations are in the Midwest, NE and South. No, the real harm is to the truth--something which John Kerry has tried to hide, and has thus far succeeded in hiding from the American public. Having declined to make his military records available by refusing to sign Form 180, a document necessary to pemit the release of his militatry records--including the records of the treatment for his first Purple-Heart wound [the "BandAid wound"], Kerry has now compounded his insidious attempts at hiding the truth by preventing disclosure of the effect upon American POW;s of his treasonous actions after he returned from 4 long months in Vietnam. [Did you know that one of those four months was spent in training at Cam Ranh Bay--a stint that Kerry even glorified by claiming that trainees suffered bone-breaking and kidney-damaging injuries caused by "rough water"?]
Will these truths ever come out? Personally, I think they will. When John Kerry decided to center his campaign upon his fictional role as a war hero, ["Reporting for duty, Sir!"] little did he know that he had indeed cried havoc and loosed, if not the dogs of war, the long-restrained anger and resentment of hundreds of thousands of men whose honor he had blackened with his lies. Having done so, he will eventually pay the price. Already, Kerry's post-war military records are leaking out. These records will prove to be more damaging than Sinclair's airing of Stolen Honor ever would have been. Even if Kerry wins the election, the freight train of truth will eventually run him down. He will not, as Bill Clinton did, live down his anti-war activities. Because, you see, while Bill Clinton evaded the draft, he never called American soldiers war criminals who systematically cut of heads and ears, burned bodies and plundered Vietnam in the manner of Genghis Khan. What John Kerry did was to have lent aid and comfort to the enemy. What he did was to have caused American POW's to be victimized by his words and deeds--it would have been bad enough if there were any truth to what he said--it is the worst kind of treason that he did it with lies.
Hopefully, when the truth is known, John Kerry will also suffer from those supporters who eventually will come to realize they have been duped by a man who planned his political career while in Vietnam and furthered it by lying about others who served in Vietnam.
To all of those supporters of John Kerry within the sound of my email voice, I say this: Unless you wish to compound the damage John Kerry has done to his country by continuing to support his candidacy for President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces he once dishonored, you should promptly recognize John Kerry for what he is-a damnable liar and traitor--a man who was so uncaring for those he left behind in Vietnam that he made up stories about them and so dishonorably conducted himself that those least able to protect themselves from his perfidy--American POW's--suffered terribly. Turn your unquestioning support into immediate skepticism and then into anger by learning the truth about John Kerry. You can order Stolen Honor for $19.95 from www.stolenhonor.com. You can get it in 3-4 days, time enough for you to change your intended vote, and if you have already voted, then to educate other Kerry supporters of the grievous mistake they will make if they vote for him. John Kerry someday will pay the price for his treason and perfidy. At least, when he is called to account, you can say, "I did not help him cause further damage to my country".
