My day started off not so good. I woke up, got my cup of coffee and saw out the front window that my Bush/Cheney 04 sign was missing from my yard. It was there last night. Later in the day, I discovered that all of the Bush/Cheney 04 signs along the street my house borders, a main thorough fare, were taken last night.

Being the kind hearted, soft spoken, mellow old guy I am, I went ballistic! Wink The gall of whoever these people from the left are that decided to enter my property and steal my campaign sign! I got the sign replaced, but before that, I wrote the following letter and sent to every paper within a hundred miles of here, as well as Hannity, Colmes and the DNC. LOL, the DNC opened an account for me on their site Rolling Eyes

TO THE THIEF

How dare you violate my constitutional freedom to show support for my choice of President in this election!

You stole the Bush/Cheney 04 sign out of my yard on Friday, 22 October. What happened to the tolerance preached by Democrats? Is it only tolerance for your views? Are constitutional freedoms and protections only for you, no one else?

Like your choice for President, I too served in Vietnam. I served a lot longer, though, 18 months compared to his 4. I too was awarded medals, but chose to keep mine, not throw them away over the Whitehouse fence. Neither I nor anyone I served with ever committed the atrocities he claimed we were committing.

Your side fought hard to have the constitutional protection to burn and desecrate the American Flag, under Freedom of Speech. Yet, you deny me the constitutional freedom to show support for the candidate of my choice. You are not only a thief, you are a hypocrite.

Unbeknownst to you, you have failed. A larger sign will go up in the place of the one you stole. My resolve to campaign and support President Bush is unshaken. All you did was to steal a sign and show yourself to be the thief and hypocrite you really are. You make Terry McAuliffe very proud, I’m sure.

Lew go down to your local body shop and pick up a can of the "non-solvable" 3M spray on contact cement, it always stays tacky until it is touched then it's instant perma-bond! They may get your sign but you'll have the satisfaction that it will need to be surgically removed from their hand Twisted Evil

Just spray around the top edge Lew you don’t want no doggies stuck to it Shocked

Excellent idea! There is an organized nation wide campaign to take all the Bush signs. They will be back. Setting up a trap for them is a great idea.

I like that idea, AZ. Since I'm in the automotive trade, I should be able to get some. Will have to give it a try. Wink

Hello,

I am lucky so far no one has taken my B/C sign and they had better not let me catch them in the act.

How about this for an answer H/V fence. Zap! Evil or Very Mad

This type of activity is so juvenile and is beneath the supporters of one
of the two major political parties in the US. Whenever this topic is
brought up to one of the Kerry-Edwards talking heads, they are quick
to point out that the other side does it too (as if that would make it
okay). As far as I can tell from the reports I've seen, this practice is
much more likely to be anti-Bush than anti-Kerry.

BTW Lew, that was an excellent letter!

I heard on a local talk show where a caller was frequently hit by the free speech Kerry supporters, put the following display up in his yard.

A large Kerry/Edwards sign with a toliet in front of it.
In the upper left corner of the sign he placed the word "Flush".

The sign remained untouched. However a few city zoning officals were attempting to shut down an unauthorized public display. The caller said he checked all zoning ordanances and the display stays.

It is happening here in Dallas too. I carry yard signs in the back of my SUV to replenish the ones that are stolen. I like the idea about the sticky stuff. Hmmmmmmm.

There's this neat product for keeping rabbits and deer out of your
foliage. It's called "Liquid Fence". This stuff really works. I would
suggest that when applying it to your foliage (or political signs) that
you use a plastic shopping bag over your hand because this stuff is
REALLY powerful and is next to impossible to just wash off. The idea
is to make your foliage smell like rotten eggs. REALLY POWERFUL
ROTTEN EGGS. It doesn't hurt the bunnies or the deer. It just makes
them want to eat something else, like the neighbors garden. Yeah, it's
a bit pricy, but it works.

Well, the law frowns on using a 230 grain .45 bullet, "Liquid Fence"
through a super soaker might have possibilities.

Just be careful after the election and cover your sign with a plastic bag before touching it. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I read on another blog site last nite that a guy puts tar on the edges of his sign. it stays soft enough and when they grab it, the smell on their hands won't go away for weeks (plus the stain it leaves)- even if they use gloves to grab the sign, the tar will make a mess in their car and leave an awful smell in their car for weeks. He usually finds his sign a few feet away from where he originally had it! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
