The Worst President In History?
(The following appeared in the Durham, NC local newpaper as a letter to the editor. You may want to forward this to all your friends.)
Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst President in U.S. history.
Let's clear up one point: President Bush did not start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Now let's look at those worst President and mismanagement claims.
FDR led us into World War II.
Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945... 450,000 lives were lost,
An average of 112,500 per year.
Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953... 55,000 lives were lost,
An average of 18,333 per year.
John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson later turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975... 58,000 lives were lost,
An average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
Clinton was offered Osama Bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by the country of Sudan and did nothing.
Osama Bin Laden has attacked the U.S. on multiple occasions all around the world.
Embassy bombings, barracks bombings, war ships and others.
Over 2,900 lives were lost on 9/11 alone.
In the two years since terrorists attacked our country,
President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban,
crippled Al-Qaida and put nuclear inspectors on the ground in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot and captured and jailed a terrorist who slaughtered over 300,000 of his own people.
We have lost over 1000 soldiers,
An average of 500 per year.
Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack on our home soil.
Worst President in history? Get real.
The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...
It took less time to take the country of Iraq, than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. That took 51 days and those were mostly women and children.
We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time, than it took Hillary Clinton to find her Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard, than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
And it took less time to take Iraq, than it took to recount the votes in Florida.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our military is outstanding and President Bush is doing a terrific job.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All you critics will have to look elsewhere for your so-called worst President. |

Don't see anything about Jimmy "the peanut" Carter , undoubtably the worst
Double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, double digit unemployment, totally dismantled our military , allowed Iran to get away with declaring war on us by invading our embacy
If it was bad it happened under Carter _________________ "Si vis pacem, para bellum" |

You thought Carter was bad before? He has now declared that the Revolutionary War was "an unnecessary war", and that "in many ways the British people were very misled in going to war against America." I am NOT making this up (I wish I were), and here's the link to prove it:
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/10/20/124125.shtml
If Jimmy Carter is the shining light of Democrat thought on foreign policy, frankly, they've all gone round the bend. I mean, really, who needed that silly old American Revolution anyway?? |

Jimmy Carter.
I remember his first TV appearance as President. He was wearing a cardigan sweater.
A couple of years later, he gave a speech called the Crises of Confidence, which was more like a sermon and later referred to as his malaise speech. The only crises of confidence was in a president who would speak to the country in a Cardigan.
He completely turned his back and lacked support of the Shah of Iran, a guy, who through the years, was a friend of America. Little did we know at the time how damn hard it was for someone to keep control of a Middle Eastern swamp like that place.
He stopped the B-1 Bomber program.
Greatly troubled Taiwan with the way he handled nornalizing relations with China.
And of course the hostage crises. And the energy crises. And inflation. And absurd interest rates.
Any small business that had to loan money suffered greatly during his administration.
And then of course he had that idiot brother who was always in the news. |

Worst President? That's a toughy...Harding, Pierce, Buchanan, Grant, pick a Harrison....let's simplifiy and keep it to the presidents I've known and that starts with Ike:
Eisenhowr-Most qualified, Most humble.
JFK-had the good sense to laugh off his phoney PT109 heroics, to inspire.
LBJ- the biggest crook, the most powerful but the most insecure and died a drunk.
Nixon-the most over-rated and under-rated master of divisive politics.
Ford-played football without a helmet
Jimmy Carter- still doesn't know that Teddy Kennedy f**ked him.
Ronny Reagan- was better than he seemed but less than a god.
GHW Bush- Had it all and lost it.
Clinton- should have been a rock star.
W - carries a war to the enemy.
Who's the worst? Jimmy a Rykover grad should have known better and his current, petty bitterness belies any Christian virtue. However, Billy Boy's vacuous self aggrandisement and self indulgence wins him the title of the Worst President hands down.
The best?
Well, I like Ike. |

50+ Reasons Why Jimmy Carter Was a Better President Than Bill Clinton
by P.J. O'Rourke
The American Spectator, September 1993
Jimmy Carter had a nicer wife,
A smarter baby brother,
A less frightening mom,
And a...No, we can't bring ourselves to make fun of the first daughter, especially since some of us have been going through an awkward adolescent stage for nearly four decades. But we can say: "Darn it, Hillary, quit fussing with your hair and do something about Chelsea's."
And, speaking of coiffures, Jimmy Carter never in his life got a haircut that cost more than $2.50, if appearances are anything to go by.
Carter had governed a more important state.
Carter had once held a job.
He came from a more cosmopolitan hometown,
And had a more charismatic vice president.
It took Carter months to wreck the economy.
It took Carter weeks to become a national laughingstock.
Carter committed adultery only in his heart.
And, if we know anything about female tastes, Carter was telling the truth about that.
As for military record, Carter was, comparatively speaking, a regular Audie Murphy.
They were on drugs during the Carter administration--they had an excuse.
We were on drugs during the Carter administration--we had an excuse.
Carter looked--think back carefully, we promise we're telling the truth about this--less foolish in his jogging outfit.
Jogging actually worked for Carter. Say what you want against the man, he's no double-butt.
Carter passed out while jogging and the nation was safe for a moment.
Carter was a good man to have on board when your canoe was attacked by a swimming rabbit.
Carter hardly ever hugged or kissed anyone in public except Leonid Brezhnev.
The FBI didn't kill anybody at Jonestown.
Bert Lance could make a bigger splash doing a cannonball into the Camp David pool than Webb Hubbell.
Hamilton Jordan could beat Mack McLarty at arm wrestling.
Plus Jordan could get into Studio 54.
Joseph Califano was prettier than Donna Shalala.
And he opposed abortion (though maybe he hadn't met Donna yet).
Warren Christopher was young and full of pep during the Carter administration.
And Warren Christopher's initials look funnier on a brief case than Cyrus Vance's did.
Zbigniew Brzezinski is worth more points in a Scrabble game than Anthony Lake.
Jimmy Carter didn't play any Fleetwood Mac songs on the campaign trail,
Or any Judy Collins records at home,
Or any saxophones anywhere.
The Undead:
Carter Administration: Miss Lillian
Clinton Administration: VAT
No one can say a word against a Carter Supreme Court appointee.
Carter did not use Bloomsbury, Mayfair, Pall Mall, Hackney, Notting Hill, Shoreditch, or any other London neighborhood as the name of his child.
One thing about Carter-era inflation, the money may have been worthless but at least we had some.
Endangered Species
Carter Administration: The Snail Darter
Clinton Administration: The DLC
Jimmy Carter's nervous smirk was less demanding of a punch in the snoot, even if it did present a larger target.
Navy football team can whip Oxford's.
Carter did not, as part of focusing on his agenda, address himself as "Stupid." He let us do that for him.
Carter wore real blue jeans and not the Levi's 550 roomy-in-the-buns kind.
Carter's poll ratings were higher (in Iraq).
Carter walked the whole inaugural parade route.
Carter saved America from a plague of Misha the Bear Olympic mascot toys.
Has Bill Clinton helped the Shah of Iran get medical treatment?
Carter spent his time doing things like figuring out the White House tennis court playing schedule -- the man knew his intellectual limitations.
Carter had enough clout to get Lani Guinier appointed to the Justice Department (and anyone who gets shot down for holding Menckenish views about the excesses of democracy had to be some kind of friend of ours even if she doesn't know it).
Carter let the Soviets have Angola, Ethiopia, and South Yemen. And, in retrospect, the Soviets deserved no better.
Carter wasn't a throwback to the Carter Era.
And let us not forget that Jimmy Carter gave us one thing Bill Clinton can never possibly give us -- Ronald Reagan.

Jimmie Carter also capped the military pay increase to 5.5% when the inflation rate that year was 13.3%

Worst president hands down goes to Clinton with Carter pulling a close second.
I gotta give it to Clinton because of the long term damage he did to the office of the Presidency and the national security.
Jimmuh Cahtah was bad too, but his total ineptitude and cluelessness kept him from doing long term damage. He hurt us for a few years.
Cinton's damage will be felt for a long time. |
