BACKLASH TO KERRY ON the NYT STORY:

The Wretchard piece captures the real story here, and it doesn't favor John Kerry. Hugh Hewitt explains why: The explosives were gone by the time we arrived because we wasted months trying to persuade countries like France to support our military action. Kerry's position is that he voted for military action only so that the president could engage in this lengthy dance. He also says we should have danced longer, giving Saddam the opportunity to move more weapons. In Wretchard's words, "The price of passing the Global Test' was very high; and having been gypped once, there are some who are still eager to be taken to the cleaners again."

Oh I agree it would be stupid, but what does CBS care more about right now. Its reputation is already badly tarnished. Think back to why they aired the TANG story to begin with. Why not finish the job.

The only way to stop it will be to get very loud right now.

I find it so sad that the Dems are using the "missing explosives" as their lead story this week before the election. They make it sound as though the terrorists made off with nukes right under our noses......that it's all Bush's fault. THEN when it's discovered that this took place BEFORE our troops ever entered Iraq, it's no big deal. Let's see, they stole bomb making chems after we went into Iraq....does that mean they had chems to make bombs? Shouldn't that be the headline? Someone help bring these folks to their senses. It's so sad that the NYT has to write Kerry's platform for him. So typical of a man that doesn't have an original thought in his head. Where's the apology when he's guilty of stupidity?

There is definite backlash possibility. Now, the key question is whether the MSM will report these events. 1) Kerry's global test failure 1) the CBS/NY Times hit piece and 3) Kerry stumping on lies

Chuckall

Your point is so good that you should start a thread:

Known explosives removed? what about WMD's?

Here's what LGF's has on it.

Quote:
NYT Missing Explosives: A Fraud

A bombshell from Cliff May at The Corner, who alleges that the New York Times story on missing explosives in Iraq is a complete fraud, deliberately leaked by the IAEA to embarrass the Bush administration. (Hat tip: Ed Moran.)

Sent to me by a source in the government: “The Iraqi explosives story is a fraud. These weapons were not there when US troops went to this site in 2003. The IAEA and its head, the anti-American Mohammed El Baradei, leaked a false letter on this issue to the media to embarrass the Bush administration. The US is trying to deny El Baradei a second term and we have been on his case for missing the Libyan nuclear weapons program and for weakness on the Iranian nuclear weapons program.”

(For the record, I don’t reveal my sources so if that means I end up sharing a cell at Sing-sing with Judy Miller, so be it.)

Rush just said it was Mohammed El Baradei (one of the Mr. Magoo UN Weapons Inspectors) who leaked this info to the MSM. He also said the US is trying to get rid of El Baradei since he has screwed up so much - missing Libya's nuke program, underestimating Iran's progress, ...

F'ing CBS says they won't release the results of their Rathergate investigation until after the election because they don't want to influence the election. But coming out with another trumped-up anti-Bush story on the weekend before the election, that's ok in their eyes. The arrogance of the MSM is disgusting.

Rush just played a clip from the debates. Kerry said something about our soldiers being killed by exp. stolen from an ammo dump. HE KNEW ABOUT THIS STORY! Rush is nailing him to the wall.

The duplicity of MSM in all this is, I think, much bigger than you know.

The NYT's story yesterday broke as if it were big and new. Now CBS is implicated in it, with the suggestion that they were going to run the same story. CNN has come out relatively unscathed since they seem to have taken the lead today in pointing out the errors in the NYT story.

But if you will go back to a previous thread in this same forum:

http://www2.swiftvets.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12638

you will see Rdtf, one of our members, observed that CNN was reporting the basic same story on 12 Oct. Only on 12 October, though it was essentially the same story, it didn't have quite the same spin. On 12 Oct the emphasis was not on the missing explosives.

The CNN story probably came from a Reuters story dated 11 Oct:

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=JZT450JCHO4BSCRBAE0CFEY?type=worldNews&storyID=6470463

But it was not even a new story on 11 Oct. As Rdtf pointed out there was an almost identical World Tribune story dated 11 June:

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/breaking_1.html

So as you can see, the basic story is not, and has not been, anything new. It was known to all the media from at least mid-June. But the story, as reported from mid-June until mid-October, apparently did not get traction, nor was it spun in such a way to have maximum impact on the election. What is new is the way the NYT (and CBS?) spun the story yesterday to make it seem like it was new, breaking, signifcant news, with a new twist - the missing explosives vs. the missing WMD.

And why do you suppose you haven't heard any of this history of a news story from anybody in MSM?

Wow! The MSM is repeating an old story in a misleading way to try to make it look bad for Bush, but the real news story - the Washington Times exposing Kerry didn't actually meet with the Security Council as he claimed - is nowhere to be found in the MSM. The MSM has always been biased, but I've never seen it this blatant. An illegitmate child of Kerry's could show up, Kerry could be diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Teresa could take a crap on the white house lawn ... if it doesn't hurt Bush, the MSM would not report it.
