I would vote for Josef Stalin, Ghengis Khan, or Ferdinand Franco before I would vote for Dubya. My question was, "How can a REPUBLICAN vote for an admitted coke-sniffing, alcoholic, draft-dodger." You will be answering my question next November when you re-elect your president. I personally consider the fact that George W. Bush being a draft-dodger to be in his favor because, unlike you, I thought the war in Vietnam was wrong, and I can understand people from my generation, republican and democrat, not wanting to go there to die for NOTHING. Does that mean I should vote against John Kerry because of his honourable service IN VIETNAM? No. Because he has more character in his jock strap for gutting it up and serving in Viietnam, then YOUR president bush has in his entire body. I was just trying to see things through your Republican eyes (You know, those Republican eyes that see that you ultra-conservative, right-wing Republicans are better patriots, better citizens, and just superior in every way to lowly socialist, liberal, and evil Democrats), and I enjoyed sticking my finger in your Republican eye. I am still waiting to see your voting record, Mr. Republican. |

Caramateur:
If stupidity could fly, you would be Sky King (sorry about the little Insult I learned back in the 60s). What about myanswer don't you understand. Let me delete the irony and nuance so you can understand more easily. I am a Democrat. You are a Republican. I vote for Democrats. You vote for Republicans. I, as a democrat, don't vote for my candidate because of his war record. This Republican site is questioning the war record of a democrat, therefore, a nominees war record must be critically important to you Republicans. Bush, the candidate you are going to vote for in November is a self-admitted draft dodger (among other things). You, a Republican will reelect the draft dodger (Comically ironic).
Now then, what about that or the previous letter don't you understand? |

Far too wordy.
You said you couldn't believe that any of us would vote for a draft dodger.
Why not ?
You did. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

Because I was against the war. Now, is that too wordy for you. I could draw cartoon stick figures. One other thought about your little quote you end every letter with. When Bush was asked about his drug use (specifically, cocaine) Bush stated that what he did 30 years ago as a dumb young man, as far as drug use is concerned, was not relevant to his campaign against Al Gore. How about giving that young dumb John Kerry the same pass for what he did at the same time. Personally, being against the war, I like that he took a stand. |

Great!
Now all you have to do is prove GWB is a draft dodger.
Have at it. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

My brother worked with George W. Bush in the early 1980s in Midland, Texas. On a flight from Midland to Houston when Dubya was slamming down the scotch and waters, Bush told my brother that he had begged his father to get him out of the draft. That makes Bush Jr. a draft dodger in my mind. Of course, Bush Sr. refused to help his son get out of the draft. But he did get Bush into the Texas Air National Guard. Do I have a video tape of Bush admitting this conversation took place, no. So, I can't prove it. Actually my brother kind of liked Bush Jr. Every time Bush would come into my brothers office, my brother would put on a political button that said, " It takes a Republican to **** in the drinking water." Bush would always laugh about that and there would always be friendly back and forth Republican and Democrat banter. My brother liked Bush Jr. but thought he was somewhat of a spoiled frat boy.
Now, since I can't convince you that any of this is true, I am going to the best Mexican Restaurant in Denver for dinner, have a couple of Margaritas and lower my IQ a few points so we can communicate on more even ground when I get home. |

Kerry had an absolute right to protest the war. In fact, his kind were hard to find in the VVAW...a real Vietnam veteran. He could have protested till the cows come home if he just had not dragged his brothers into the muck by repeating unverified and unsubstantiated allegations made by a group with too many imposters in it supported by too many anti-American activists. If he had left the rest of us out of his pursuit of notoriety, I would be glad to vote for a real honest to God Vietnam veteran. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

No. I am noting the character of a Naval Officer who turned his back on his brothers, on the Law of Land Warfare, on the Uniform Code of Military Justice, on Duty, Honor and Country and who aided and assisted the enemies of the United States. A man who actively worked in order to abandon those who were left behind. A man who has actively worked against the establishment of a strong military and a strong intelligence gathering capability. A man who would lead us to ruin, in my opinion. _________________ De Oppresso Liber |

He was a Naval Officer. He had a right to protest, within certain defined areas. He did not have the right to meet with the enemy, to fail in his duties, to ignore the UCMJ. _________________ De Oppresso Liber |
