I am listening to the Governor of Penn. and I simply can not believe what I am hearing. The question of Shawn Hannity is so simple--Will you support the vote postmarked by 2 November be counted? And the Governor says Shawn is misleading people!!! This is incredible.
The Governor is supposed to come on his show tomorrow to answer. |

Hannity wrapped up the discussion by proclaiming: "If we don't protect our military when they're protecting us...this is our opportunity to protect them!"
Rendell promised to call into Hannity radio show tomorrow with his answer. |

The final word on this situation.... after a meeting held in Harrisburg this morning, Gov. Slick Eddy has agreed to ask the 'court' for a ONE WEEK extension, making Nov. 2 the deadline for postmarks. Now you know as well as I do, those ballots will never make it over and back in time. His attitude on Hannity was abominable! |

This is all because of throwing Nader off the ballot. He could just not count those. This was intentional to not count military votes.
I hope all you in PA are watching this and let your friends know that your Governor is throwing out the military vote. |

Judge Extends Deadline for Overseas Votes
1 hour, 41 minutes ago
By MARK SCOLFORO, Associated Press Writer
HARRISBURG, Pa. - A federal judge approved a settlement Friday between Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell and the parents of two servicemen who sued to extend the deadline for counting overseas military and civilian ballots for president.

The deadline for counting the presidential ballots was extended by eight days to 5 p.m. on Nov. 10. Rendell said he would also seek the same extension for state election races.
Rendell agreed to seek a seven-day extension after resisting Republican calls for a two-week extension for several days. He told a news conference in Philadelphia that Republicans could produce only one voter — out of 26,000 overseas military and civilian voters — who failed to get the absentee ballot he requested.
Nonetheless, "Even if it's just one or two votes, their votes should be counted," Rendell said.
Robert J. Reitz Sr., who sued on behalf of his son, said the deadline may not leave enough time for Army Spc. Steven J. Reitz to return the ballot he received Thursday in Baghdad. But he said the additional time may benefit others.
"In light of all the others that will get in between now and then, it's the best we can do," he said.
The two sides, helped along by U.S. District Judge Yvette Kane, negotiated in her chambers for three hours Friday morning before reaching the compromise.
The Republican-financed lawsuit was filed Wednesday and named Rendell and Secretary of State Pedro Cortes. It had sought a 15-day extension for the ballots' return.
GOP state Sen. John Pippy, an Army reserve captain who served in Iraq (news - web sites), criticized Rendell's proposal for a one-week extension, saying the governor had asked for — and received — a nearly three-week extension for counting absentee ballots in the April primary.
Pippy told a news conference in Pittsburgh that it took three to six weeks for mail to get from the United States to Iraq when he served there in the reserve.
Officials with the state Republican Party, whose efforts to intervene in the case were halted by the settlement, said the party was considering filing its own federal lawsuit asking to push back the deadline further farther.
When Rendell initially resisted asking for an extension, thousands of callers jammed phone lines at the governor's office. |

Since when do felons vote? Seems like we give out voting privledges much too easily in this country. IMHO some as serious and important as deciding the countries leadership shouldn't be left to the influence of the media on the populace. (Similar feelings for voting documents not in the official language of this country.) |

but can they then get back to PA within the 8 day extension and be counted? What happens if thousands of ballots come streaming in 3 weeks from now with Nov 2 postmarks? |

What the H**L is with this Governor?
RENDELL RUNNING GET-OUT-THE-VOTE EFFORT IN PENNSYLVANIA PRISONS? [10/29 03:53 PM]
Rep Curt Weldon, R-Pennsylvania, appearing on NRANews.com:
We have won first battle. The Governor finally relented allowed at least a 10 day extension for absentee ballots. We think it may take more, but 10 days better than none.
The governor took the a brochure to every prison warden in the state had to allow absentee ballots. This is the same governor didn’t want extension for our troops, but he wants to get out the vote in the prisons.
They system of weeding out ineligible voters was to ask the prisoners!
Weldon seeking federal injunctive lawsuit against these ballots, and seeking federal investigation.
Chances of resolving this are almost nil. They have been working on this for weeks, but we just got word of this last night.
No way it gets caught at local level - the listed address is their home address, not the prison, Weldon said.
Is anyone in PA paying attention to this? I can't belive the nerve of this guy. |
