Quote: | A non-profit Florida group is purchasing air time this weekend in major markets in eight battleground states to show a 30-minute television special featuring Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, the group challenging Sen. John Kerry's version of his war record and his antiwar activities.
With 13 stations already lined up, including five in Florida, Campaign Truth says it can broadcast the special on three more stations if it can raise an additional $15,000 by noon Eastern time today.
The potential stations are Tampa's UPN affiliate WTTA, and Dayton, Ohio's ABC affiliate WKEF and FOX affiliate WRGT.
The group is taking donations on its website.
The TV program, "Unfit to Lead," hosted by swiftboat vet spokesman John O'Neill, also is available exclusively to WorldNetDaily readers online for a limited time.
The show features many of the men whose testimonies about Kerry were heard in the controversial advertisements played in key swing states over the past several months.
In Florida, it will air on the local PAX network stations in Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami and West Palm Beach.
It also is scheduled in Denver; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Cleveland; Milwaukee; Des Moines, Iowa; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Scranton, Pa.; and Charleston, W.Va.
Times are listed below.
The broadcasts in Florida and Cleveland are being promoted with newspaper ads.
In the special, one of Kerry's former superior officers, Capt. George Elliott, says he believes Kerry should have been removed from command.
Elliott was commander of Coastal Division 11, where Kerry spent his four months of active duty in Vietnam.
"If I knew then what I know now, he would have been thrown out of my command and probably recommended for removal from the Navy," Elliott says of Kerry.

Rockland, Maine - Maine Coast Community Television (MCCT)
Quote: | Local access airing controversial 'Stolen Honor' documentary
By Anthony Ronzio
Email this story to a friend
ROCKLAND (Oct 29, 2004): Starting Thursday, Maine Coast Community Television will begin airing the controversial political documentary "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal."
Maynard Stanley, president of MCCTV, said the 43-minute film is scheduled to air Thursday at 7 a.m. and then every six hours after that. He procured a copy of the film from Red, White and Blue Productions of Harrisburg, Penn.
Stanley said local access channels have the ability to show films and programs without the pressures of a national broadcaster. Controversy surrounding the film caused its national showing to be canceled last week.
"Stolen Honor" was made by Carlton Sherwood, a Vietnam War veteran and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. It was financed by funding through veterans of Pennsylvania, according to the film's website.
The former POWs interviewed in the film claim Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts caused them to endure additional suffering, following his 1971 Senate testimony criticizing the war.
"The surviving men and their families, who felt betrayed by Kerry then and now, speak out through 'Stolen Honor' against the lies, false testimony and distortions made by young Mr. Kerry in the early 1970s," said a September press release about the film.
Sinclair Broadcast Group was scheduled to air the documentary, but relented after hearing criticism from the Kerry campaign and veterans' groups, and receiving negative media attention.
"Sinclair Broadcasting's only motivation is political - they are committed to a one-sided smear," a Kerry spokesman said in a release. "The Kerry campaign is in no way cooperating with this discredited, partisan effort Sinclair is poorly disguising as 'news.'"
Sinclair, which provides content to WGME-TV in Portland, showed a different POW-related documentary. In a press release issued Oct. 19, the company claimed never to have finally decided to screen the controversial "Stolen Honor."
Anne Beebe-Center, chairman of the Knox County Democratic Committee, told VillageSoup Friday the decision to air this film is a "shame," and said it would only bring more divisiveness into an already harsh election season.
"This is just going to ramp it up," she said.
Maine Coast Community Television was formed last year as the new local-access channel for the Midcoast, after Adelphia made a channel available for local access through its contract with the city of Rockland.
MCCTV is channel 7 on the Adelphia dial.

Thanks for the information -- Sarasota, FL area with Sarasota Herald Tribune (owned by the NYT!) can't seem to find anything to lead us in the correct direction. According to the SHT, Kerry is the second coming.
Watched Stolen Honor on the computer after Sinclair ran into so many problems.
I was posting a question as to the viewing times elsewhere but lost my way. NP though, by next week I'll be better at finding my way around this site. |

Amazingly, WKMG, the Orlando CBS affiliate, owned by Washington Post, just aired Stolen Honor in its entirety from 1 to 2 am, 10/31/04. Watched it again, and of course saw new parts that stuck in my mind. Ironicly, the Time Warner cable 'media guide' listing currently doesn't show the channel that I watched it on even listed! And of course the show was immediately followed by more 527 Kerry ads, which in their lies pale in comparison. |
