Thune would have won a Senate seat in 2002 if it wasn't for the fraudulent voting on the reservations. Unlike Gore, Thune conceded even though a challange probably would have awarded him the election. The fraud was clumsy and pretty obvious, multiple voting, dead people voting and dead people voting multiple times. But Thune was wise enough to know that whining doesn't play well out here, so he bided his time and planed on running against Daschle. At the same time the voter fraud was exposed and this time the people won't stand for it. If Thune loses a close one, look for a challange and Daschle to scream racism. But everyone knows how corrupt these reservations are, especially since the influx of gambling money. If Daschle wins the challange by fraudulent means, look for a recall. SoDaks may be as partisan as the rest of us, but they universally despise a cheater.

Honey, I don't even live in SD, but I've been praying for Thune to win for you guys just like I've prayed for the President to win.

And it sure looks like it's happening! We'll have a double-celebration, tomorrow!

SEN Dasshole is a blight on the party and the Congress and far too often on my own television screen. There are about ten Congressmen who I absolutely despise and Daschle is right there at the top of the list.

Wonder if Thune will have any recourse on the fact that Daschle and wife have declared their 2 mil. Wash.DC property as homestead--the article I saw and don't remember where--stated Linda (Daschle's wife) has never lived in SD, place of business in W, DC & has only paid taxes in DC-----but nevertheless is registered to vote there, including her daughter. They did cast (all 3) their absentee ballots last week.

Also, when reporters were checking the homestead exmp. on tax rolls they noted the day after receiving a copy of the exmp. it was changed to reflect only "she" got it. Daschle has originally signed for it at time of closing. Ok, if he was getting homestead exmp. in SD and DC both, did he commit perjury by signing the exemption? Then, reporters checking back after it was only in "her" name, found it once again in "his" name.

Could the tax officials or clerks be guilting of something, too?
