Louisiana alone holds the distinction of having never elected a Republican US Senator. UNTIL TONIGHT!! David Vitter (R) will replace the retiring John Breaux (D).
As I'm sure you've heard the pundits repeat 50 times tonight, in Louisiana, if one candidate doesn't pull 50%+ of the vote, the top two go into a December runoff.
The dems ran TWO candidates to try to force a runoff. Vitter appears to have squeaked by with 52%. |

Now, if they could just get rid of that insufferable Mary Landrieu, LA
would be a great state. As I remember, she only won the seat due
to some false propaganda and because her father was a major player
in the LA Democratic Party. I work with a woman who was born into a
family that is big in the LA Republican Party. She is married to a good-
looking pilot in the USMC. She says that Mary Landrieu is out of step
with most of the people of Louisiana. _________________ Susan R. Morton |

YES! I am so glad we won't have a runoff. I wasn't looking forward to a repeat of what we went through last time. |

Here's another Louisiana person checking in, and I teach at LSU.
You're right about Landrieu being insufferable. Ugh! |
