The problem with her statement is that there are no Blue States. All you have are Blue Urban Areas. Now from what I have seen living in Michigan and only aboout 20 miles from Detroit is that Detroit succeded from the Union 30 years ago. Now as far as I am concerned it would be fine for Detroit to go ahead let them figure out their own tax base. Let them provige their own hand out legislation. Let them deal with the voter fraud wintin the Country of Detroit. I say not one ounce of American Blood will be shed to stop you. Not again. |

Not so sure you want to be part of Oregon either - at least the section west of the Cascades and Eugene north _________________ "Si vis pacem, para bellum" |

I have to laugh at the very irony of their words (which shows how really stupid they are). Words and thoughts like this come from the Elitist element - I mean, that's the whole conotation of what they say, isn't it? That they're "better," "smarter," etc. Who then, I wonder, will they out-better and out-smart if they separate themselves from us dumb country conservative bumpkins? Uh-oh! |

This is further evidence that the Democrats, and not Bush, are the divisive ones. They keep criticizing Bush for dividing the Country, yet here is a prominent Democrat proposing just that.
Here is a better idea than physically dividing our country. If you are frustrated because you can't change this country, move to where they've already changed - Old Europe. They always elect whimpy Europhiles like John Fraud Kerry in France. Quit trying to F up this country, move to one that's already F'ed up. _________________ "We cannot win this election" - John Fraud Kerry 11/3/04

You beat me to it... That's right, there are no blue states only blue counties and I suspect that even some of those counties landmass are predominantly red. Michigan's electoral votes are influenced heavily by Wayne county (Detroit) but the rest of the State is pretty much red. I remember 4 years ago, awaiting the results of the Michigan gubernatorial election, noting that Lt. Gov. Posthumus (R) was significantly ahead from the reporting precincts but knowing that Wayne county had not yet reported. Sure enough, Wayne county reports in with plenty of margin for Granholm (D) to cover the difference. Very sad.
It all makes me wonder if the electoral vote process should be extended to the county level for each State. This would at least give voters in rural areas a fighting chance to elect someone who would address issues other than entitlements and urban affairs.
Also, consider that when the electoral college was established by the founding fathers, only property owners could vote. The restriction may not be fair today but their intentions were clear..
Alexander Hamilton empathized with those wishing to broaden the voting suffrage by allowing non-property owners the vote but realized the folly inherent with allowing such. Further, in regards to fairness and equality, he understood that voters who were also property owners would be on an equal footing with all other such voters. As he wrote:
If it were probable that every man would give his vote freely, and without influence of any kind, then, upon the true theory and genuine principles of liberty, every member of the community, however poor, should have a vote … But since that can hardly be expected, in persons of indigent fortunes, or such as are under the immediate dominion of others, all popular states have been obliged to establish certain qualifications, whereby, some who are suspected to have no will of their own, are excluded from voting; in order to set other individuals, whose wills may be supposed independent, more thoroughly upon a level with each other. (Alexander Hamilton, "The Farmer Refuted")
John Tyler summarized other dangers of giving non-property owners the vote:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal responsibility, always followed by a dictatorship. Does anyone have a list of those red counties? I'm thinking of boycotting (where possible) all products and services from the blue counties. You can't underestimate the power of the buck. I'm ashamed to admit that I live in NY but at least my county voted in favor of Bush. _________________ Ret. USMC Korean War Vet. |

Geraldine is a looser. Thank God she lost in '84! She is a poor listener and too self absorbed to even listen to what anyone has to say. She is a prima donna in her own mind. Yuk!! |

I say do us all a favor and break away. Obviously, we're sick of what your education is trying to teach.
Now I challenge you all to list what the red states would have left if the Blue broke away. I do believe that the blue lips would be helpless without us.
This is just for grins, because I've decided I'm not gonna let the libs get to me again for at least 2 yrs.
I'll start by saying: The Red is made up of hunters so we would have food, also agriculture is in the red that fills their supermarkets.

I love all this talk about secession from the Dems...they're the ones moaning about the divisiveness of the debate and yet they're making extreme, radical statements like that? How untrue, irrelevant, absurd & hypocritical...oh, yes, look who we're talking about!
Just like W was proven to have a higher IQ than sKerry I would love to see a comparison of the IQs red v. blue...but we'll never see that and it's irrelevant. Furthermore, we know on the face of it - they're just plain idiots! _________________ "We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. I think Arnold might have been talking about those two when he made his recent comments about losers.
The both of them are sour losers of huge margins.
Hannity must be having so much fun now. Hannity is much like Bush, he stays on message and just pounds at you. |

It absolutely infuriates me to see how these "people" consider themselves as the "elite", and that everyone else is just stupid. If they find it so terrible, let 'em go, but there's a ton of good people in those blue states that would disagree. Ordinary people are starting to see the Socialist leanings of today's Democratic Party and they are saying, "ENOUGH". After watching Terry McAuliffe on Hannity & Colmes the other night, I've come to the conclusion that he's as big a kook as Ferarro.
Until the centrists and conservatives of the Democratic Party rise up and take their party back, the party will be largely ineffectual, and continue it's spiral into oblivion. It speaks volumes that they are holding Obama up as the party's saviour. He won with a large margin...against Alan Keyes. That hardly makes him the next FDR. If they're that quick to hang their hopes for the future on a candidate that has yet to see the inside of the Senate chambers, good for 'em. They're gonna need to come up with a new party just to keep it a two party system if somebody doesn't wake up over there. People like Ferraro, McAuliffe, and Moore are nothing more than symptoms of a very, very large problem within the Democratic Party. |

I live in Washington state. Only king county is blue the rest of the state is red. Seattle out votes the rest of the state. When you go there you think you are in a different country. Everyone looks like a pagan, bones in their noses, wierd tats etc. I have a theory that like rats that over populate go insane, so it is with the large cities. People go nuts living so close together and vote dem. It may be that they only see man made or altered things, so they forget the general revelation of the creator God. Thus they think that their wisdom is all there is. In other words they are out of touch with reality, that would explain their world view. |

I love Ferraro. As a partisan Republican, I couldn't ask for better advertising for the GOP than Ferraro, et al.
You can't buy that kind of advertising.
Keep talking Gerald-deen. Maybe you and Theresa could get a talk show. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |
