For those who plan on attending the inauguration, the below link provides info. U need to have tickets to be in the Oval, but the ceremony is broadcast over speakers all over the government proper. You can get tickets from your Rep or Senator. 4 max unless you have THE JUICE. If high demand, only 2. Obviously requests from western states are easier to come by, so use friends and relatives. I'll post this as a new thread also.

Also, the Washington Metro is awesome, you can get a hotel along the ends of the Metro line much cheaper and take the Metro in. Inauguration Day is DC holiday so Metro station parking is free and RT ticket is $5 actually $4.65 if you have the correct change.

This will be my first Inauguration, then I'm staying for my 6th Right to Life march 1/22. PM if anybody wants to meet up.

There is yet more good news. A Coalition of the Willing has taken it upon ourselves to start this ball rolling. Plans are already underway. I can't say anything definite until plans are a little better formed, but I would strongly suggest keeping the President's Day holiday open for the time being. We hope to have some better infromation available within a few days, and then perhaps Admin will grnat us an Announcement psot ro a Sticky.

- The COW (Coalition Of the Willing) and that's no Bull.

The COW. LOL.

Gawd, Rurik. Just what I have always wanted to be a part of. The COW.

How many people are coming to this? 5? 50? 500? 5,000?

Better than the Coalition Of the Cowardly Kerry. And we know that the head of that organization is MOOOOORE. And that group is all Bull.

The COW is friendly, gives nourishment, and only says MOOO, not MOOOOOOVE on.
And besides, Texas is COW country isn't it? Wink Oops, I think I just let slip another bit of the plan. Embarassed

I'm not really responsible for myself tonight. Second night of birthday celebrations - I've got an excuse, This year I received the best birthday present of my last 24 years, even if it did arrive about two days early Very Happy

Kimmymac, you're right as usual. First thing we need is a rough indication of interest. That's why I hope we'll be granted a Sticky. So everybody that might be interested sign in please - and if you could, please indicte if you'll be coming solo or bringing along family.

Rurik,

Glad to hear something is in the works.

I started this thread, and I'd be happy to be a proud member of COW, lend a hand in planning or whatever is needed.

Just PM me if you'd like some additional help.

M4L, You've got a great idea. But why not do BOTH?

I do think we want, we need a big national celebration.
But local or regional gatherings should be held also. Both to celebrate and also to ge together with people who could form a network of local organizations. such a network with an informal regional character could be very effective for any next campaign.
I've been planning to rais this issue myself.

And I've noticed that Minnesota appears to have been blessed with somewhat more than its fair share of activists. I'm an ex-Minnesotan, and I make it back to Beirut-on-Missisippi about once a month. If the Minnesota delegation plans a meeting, give me a little advance notice please.

Minnesota's in! Very Happy

I'm about an hour's drive from Minneapolis =)

Count me in! (I don't know how my 2 year old would handle mommy going to Texas, but I know I can get out for a day ~L~)

e,

Georgi

My vote: DC and after President Bush takes his second oath of office.

In DC, you can count on a huge turnout.

I still say Orlando is a great place to consider.

Warm and sunny in February.

Lots of ample convention halls for a big party.

Lots of hotel options and inexpensive air access (relatively speaking, of course)

Incredible family attractions.

Just my 2 cents.
