Has anyone heard when they expect the panel to complete their investigation of CBS and the doctored documents? |

I think that the answer to your question has something to do with

Whenever a Media Organisation is left to "Investigate Itself". the task becomes impossible as they can not find reliable and unimpeachable sources to conclude the investigation. _________________ U.S. Army 1983-1995, 11C1P/11H2P NBTDT |

Here's the latest I've found:
Brent Bozell, Catholic Exchange, Oct 25 wrote: | ...Les Moonves gave his view from the mountaintop about the Dan Rather forgery scandal and how the network’s independent investigation would proceed. "Obviously, it should be done probably after the election is over, so that it doesn’t affect what is going on."
What? Dan Rather and CBS try to destroy the Bush campaign with a file of phony military documents, and now they think it would be politically sensitive to release an independent critique of their bias before the election. It is obvious that CBS and Moonves think what Dan Rather attempted to do with the forgeries wasn’t intended to influence the election....

Based on this cursory search, I'd have to agree we're not likely to see action on this. The media have added stonewalling and secrecy to their noble cause of power and control through bias. _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

The investigation will end about the same time that John Kerry signs the SF 180.
If you want to circle it on you calendar, try the 12th.

I guess they figure if they whine enough, the problem will go away. Kinda' like they fight wars. I read somewhere that's the way Silky Pony acted in Vietnam.

Looks like the media pals don't expect Mr. Marine to be punished, just stashed away.

My guess is that since Dick Thornburg is in charge of this internal investigatioin it will not be a classic cover-up as we all witnessed with the Sandy Berger investigation. Also because Sumner Redstone, head honcho of Viacom, (parent of CBS) is a Bush supporter and is livid with Rather and eager for the investigation to end so he can ask for Rather`s resignation.
Also there is great speculation whether John Roberts will succeed Rather. I hope not since he is in Rather`s image. My guess is they will try to buyout Chris Wallace`s contract with Fow and he will be Rather`s successor. |

I tho't the BOR investigation was settled, but I've been out of touch with non-election news lately. _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

It might be asking for the moon, but if CBS thoroughly repudiated the methods used by Rather and his cohort, and if CBS 60 Minutes then turned their attention and the public's gaze to a full court press on Kerry's war record, then, they'd earn back some credibility.
Since memories of tv audiences are notoriously short, CBS may have more to gain than to lose by revealing the sordid details about Kerry now that Kerry has been demoted back to junior Senator of Massa. |

I personally believe we will get a full report from CBS showing how biased they were and summarily firing Dan Rather......
but then I also believe Pete Rose was framed |
