62 years ago today this invasion of North Africa began. As Americans and British went ashore the first resistence they met were French. The stiff Vichy resistance cost the Americans 556 killed and 837 wounded. Three hundred British troops and 700 French soldiers were also killed. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69

So that's about half the casualties as Iraq thus far.
My favorite was french spooks blowing up the Greenpeace boat years back.
The french are just grand folks all round. |
