Funny comment by Rooney last night sums up what many here have said all along:
Quote: | Television did a good job Tuesday night, I thought. I know a lot of you believe that most people in the news business are liberal. Let me tell you I know a lot of them, and they were almost evenly divided this time. Half of them liked Sen. Kerry; the other half hated President Bush.

I thought this closer was admirable and quite a concession for Rooney to make publicly...

I agree with Me1you10.
To tell listeners to support President Bush speaks
volumns, but is falling on deaf ears

Don't forget that Andy Rooney is the same man who made fun of Pat Robertson (700 Club), because Pat Robertson publicly announced that God told him Bush would win re-election.
Whatever your religious beliefs, you have to admit that in this case...God was right. *smile*

I've heard two Fox pundits speaking about this supposed re-election by the evangelical Christians of the country.
This is false - people who identified themselves as Christians voted in almost exactly the same percentages as they did in 2000, as did young voters.
From the detailed preliminary statistics now available, it appears that women went stronger for Bush, as did Hispanic and Jewish and African-American voters.
What hasn't been discovered is that veterans and active duty moved on this one. I'll bet that veterans and military account for several points more of the total this time than ever before.
I'm waiting to see if detailed polls in the near future will bear this out. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

CBS is now moving quickly to play CYA. They've got to have a major purge to save face and their lucrative ratings. I'll bet their ratings really started to tank after the Bush document scandal. _________________ Hey swifty, I'm with you, Just watch you don't get "Kerry'd away in the propwash

I agree, Rdtf. It is the kind of "apology" that should earns a person a slug in the mouth with a right cross.
Rooney can keep his "support"--meaning, what? That he doesn't think Kerry voters should assinate Bush? Or foment civil war?

Gosh, did not expect to see such analysis of Rooney's background in this posting. In his defense, he was one of two journalists who sent encouraging letters to Bernie Goldberg after he was fired by Dan Rather for his remarks on media bias in a WSJ editorial (see Bias). The other was John Stossel.
I accept Rooney's remark at face value. I think he is right on the money. |

I believe that was the telling vote. It might actually be in our best interests if they never do figure it out. Know what I mean? |

The civilian world always wants to discount the military. In peace time, they barely tolerate us and then only as something they can exploit.. But wait until shite hits the fan and they're all over us telling us what heros we are for saving their butts. If civilians thought at all, we'd be out of a job _________________ Hey swifty, I'm with you, Just watch you don't get "Kerry'd away in the propwash

Maybe you are unaware of Rooney's background, otherwise you wouldn't be saying that! |
