army72, where in the world in Michigan does your brother-in-law live to make this statement:

'I had a brother-in-law call me last night to tell me that in Michigan, some lady punched in her vote for Kerry and the machine voted for Bush. He used that as evidence that Bush is cheating. I asked him the obvious questions about how many people did this and did a vote for Bush show up as a Kerry vote. He didn't know or care, he just stated that he had proof that Bush cheated again.'

I worked as a Precinct Chairman in MI on 11/2. You know when we knew how many voters chose which candidate? AFTER the polls closed (8PMEST) and I pushed the button which tabulated all votes cast from 6AM. The only thing we know in advance is how many voters cast a ballot through that machine as it keeps a running total. I think your brother-in-law is handing you a bunch of ka-ka. He's probably the type who will tell you the sky is green on a bright sunny day because 'someone told' him!

BTW, in order to not have a FL fiasco, after 2000 our Secretary of State instituted having the same type voting throughout the entire state. This has been 95% completed, with the additional 5% scheduled for completion before the end of 2005.

My brother-in-law lives in Taylor. He was seeing red when he called me (maybe he looked at that map). I doubt his story was true, that doesn't stop him from spreading garbage like that.

bystander, yes, I know he is full of it and as I mentioned above I asked if the problem was repeated.. he didn't know or care. He obviously didn't care if the story was even true. He still thinks he has proof and nothing will change that. I live in Ohio and I could not see how my vote was tabulated after I hit the button anyway. I guess the republicans let Kerry win a few states to keep the election close.. some guys just go through life being fooled. I suspect that'll be his next argument.

BTW - He will just continue to spread that rumor until it becomes an Urban Legend. I'll run your statement by him and watch him twist in the wind a while. I'll ask him how many people he told that story to and ask if they thought he was full of it. Thanx. This is gonna be fun!
