According to this FoxNews story (which has been picked up on NewsMax), millions of gallons of water are leaking into Boston's new underground highway system, known as the Big Dig. "Fixing the hundreds of leaks could take up to 10 years, said Jack K. Lemley, a consultant hired by the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority (search) to investigate the problem."
This could be a BIG embarrassment to Senator John Kerry, since Kerry had often pushed for Federal funding for the Big Dig after it had far exceeded initial cost estimates. Apparently, it was known that the now-leaking wall was faulty "in the late 1990's", but no one notified state authorities or ordered it replaced. This begs the question, why not?

Kerry is also accused of accepting large campaign contributions from AIG (American International Group) after it was found out that AIG had been overpaid $129.8 million in unemployment compensation insurance which was unnecessary, after which Kerry voted against legislation that would have cut $150 million in Federal funding to the Big Dig which would have closed the insurance loophole.

You know what would be so excellent? If the entire country had just been smart enough to elect John Kerry, and we could have blue-urban area-ed our entire country!
Just think! All of our nation could has been as progressive and well run as Detroit, Los Angeles, New York City, Boston and Washington DC!
Austin is one of the few non-border counties in Texas that went blue, and Austin is the most screwed up city we have. Dread having to go up there. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |

Hey, Philadelphia is a least as well run as Detroit. The excessive city wage tax is a shining example of Progressive policy. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |

Well VA went red despite its blue govorner. I am still scratching my head why Gov. Warner seems to find all this money for beautifying the streets and sidewalks here, and even planting flowers, trees and schrubs, but never has the funds to support our education system in this common wealth? Gee, does he think we didn't figure out where our education money was spent? On the streets and sidewalks and schrubbery. Warner probably thinks it is better to raise a generation of dummies here in VA so that they will all grow up to be the liberal Dem he is. |

"The Big Dig" will someday be known as the "Big Swimming Pool". Some Contractor made a huge mistake with the construction of the Slurry Wall( which holds back all the water), going to take them years to fix it.
The idea for it wasn't a bad one, just when you toss into the mixture Politicians and Tax Payer money, let's just say it doesn't always go where it should. _________________ U.S. Army 1983-1995, 11C1P/11H2P NBTDT |
