WASHINGTON (Talon News) --

At precisely the eleventh hour of this eleventh day of November, President George W. Bush will speak at the Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.
Earlier this week President George W. Bush issued a proclamation acknowledging the sacrifices of our soldiers, saying, "We honor these brave men and women who have served in our Armed Forces and defended our Nation."
In recognition of the 25 million American veterans, the president declared November 11, 2004 as Veterans Day and urged "all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through ceremonies and prayers."
"They have fought for the security of our country and the peace of the world," the president said in his proclamation recognizing the contributions of veterans from all of America's wars and conflicts. "They have defended our founding ideals, protected the innocent and liberated the oppressed from tyranny and terror."
The president and first lady Laura Bush visited with injured soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center on Monday. The first couple spent about two hours at the facility and met some 50 soldiers who had been wounded in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Following the visit, President Bush said he was "struck by the courage and bravery of our men and women who wear the uniform."
Bush said, "[I]t's so uplifting to see their spirit, their drive to become rehabilitated, their love of their country, and their support of the mission."
Commenting on how well run the Walter Reed facility is the president said, "To a person, they were very strong in their support and praise for how this hospital is run."
"We've got troops in harm's way in the Fallujah area right now, and our prayers are with the soldiers and their loved ones as they're doing the hard work necessary for a free Iraq to emerge," Bush told reporters following his visit.
"Godspeed to them," the president said declaring that Americans and Iraqis "are doing the hard work necessary for a free Iraq to emerge."
