No 327's left... a shame, too! I loved the Taney, what a beautifully constructed ship. But don't forget the 255's... they were kind of like the Rodney Dangerfields of the CG fleet. I was on Pontchartrain for her Squadron Three service.
My DD was the USS Arnold J. Isbell (DD-869), a Gearing class. |

Dadesid, my sea time was on the dark side Other than the Modoc which rode like a watermelon, I was fortunate enough to spend my time in the black hulls of the buoy tenders. I don't think there was a more comfortable riding ship made then the older tree class like the Citrus, Firebush and Sweetbriar.
Like the Taney, Campbell and the rest, these great ladies have seen their days go by. ::sniffle::

I was on a DD for my last command, it was a spruance class, USS O'Brien (DD-975). I think that's why I decided to get out after 11 years.
