I just found this website and thought I would share it as there are some wonderful photos and the beautiful recessional music from Reagan's funeral - "Mansions of the Lord" from "We Were Soldiers."

That's a beautiful tribute - I haven't looked at it in a while, and it still makes me cry.
Picture #16 shows two photographs left at the feet of the bronze statue - one is of a firefighter friend's husband with President Reagan, wearing the "Chief's" hat he had made for him and the other shows her with President Reagan.
She made the long drive from her home, waiting hours for the bus into the Library, then the long drive back home, just to pay her respects and leave the photos inscribed with her messages for the President and his family. Over 16 hours she spent on the road. That's dedication.
The Library did a nice job with that presentation. I didn't recognize the music until I saw it this time. Does "Mansions of the Lord" include the part where the Scot is singing "Lay me down in the cold, cold ground?" What song is that? They are a perfect soundtrack for the pictures. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I'm not sure if the part about "Lay me down..." is part of "Mansions of the Lord" but it is part of the soundtrack of "We Were Soldiers." Most of the soundtrack of the movie is made up of variations of Mansions. I just saw the movie the other night and it is great - highly recommend.

Mansions of the Lord
To fallen soldiers, let us sing,
Where no rockets fly or bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord.
No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night,
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord.
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
All through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord.

Wow, Debs, it's even more powerful when you know the lyrics.
I just found that the end of that piece is called "Sgt. Mackenzie," and the soundtrack includes "For You" by Johnny Cash with Dave Mathews, "The Beautiful" by Five for Fighting and "Didn't I" by Montgomery Gentry, among others, I'm sure. All of these are GREAT. I'm going to have to order this soundtrack.
The story of "Sgt. Mackenzie" is here:

Thanks for the other link, too, Taylor. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Quotes from the site that I dedicate to Swift Vets and POWs for Truth and our current Armed Services who, in the Afghanistan and Iraq portions of the War on Terrorism, have allowed "projection of thousands of combat forces more than 600 miles inland - the farthest inland campaign from a naval-based force in world history."
-from Navy/Marine Corps, The Power of Teamwork
"We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look."
- January 20, 1981
"It is up to us...to work together for progress and humanity so that our grandchildren, when they look back at us, can truly say that we not only preserved the flame of freedom, but cast its warmth and light further than those who came before us."
- 1982
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever."

This song is haunting - sung by Montgomery Gentry:
Song: Didn't I Lyrics
Didn't I make you proud
Go and lay my life down
When you called my name
I thought I stood for something
Was doing the right thing when I went away
Now being back should be so simple
But I keep getting mixed signals from everyone
Why do people sit and judge me
Who I ain't seen what I seen or did what I've done
Didn't I burn, didn't I bleed enough for you
I faced your fears
Felt pain so you won't have to
Ya didn't I do my best
And wasn't home here when I left
I've seen boys fall to pieces
Grown men cry out for Jesus
Til they're black and blue
I thought God was on your side
Weren't we suppose to be the good guys
That would never lose
Cause I don't see no ticker tape or five mile parades
Sayin' "Thank You son"
Just folks that sit and judge me
Who ain't seen or did what I've done
Didn't I burn, didn't I bleed enough for you
I faced your fears
Felt the pain so you won't have to
Ya didn't I do my best
And wasn't home here when I left.
