New Disclosures on U.N. Fraud Due Monday

Senator Norm Coleman's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations will convene on Monday for a hearing on the United Nations’ Iraqi Oil for Food program. Prior to the public hearing, the Subcommittee's staff will release "new documents detailing the use of vouchers, surcharges and kickbacks to abuse the Oil for Food program," according to a Subcommittee press release.

Stay tuned. As we've said before, Senator Coleman is a much more formidable adversary than the United Nations' scam artists have yet encountered. The "oil for food" scandal is one of the great frauds of recent history, and the lid still hasn't been blown off, due to stonewalling by Kofi Annan and others at the U.N.

The Subcommittee's hearing will begin on Monday at 12:00 pm EST in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. We would encourage all Power Line readers within driving distance to attend, if possible. In addition, the hearing will be broadcast over the internet here: http://www.senate.gov/~gov_affairs/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Hearings.Home

Considering the amount of $$ the US gives to fund the UN, we should be able to INSIST that they turn over the documents....

Kofi Annan is blocking this investigation all the way. I think the UN should be booted out of the US. They are corrupt. We should not have to support these traitors within our own country. Mad

Question: Is there any legitimate way to get the US to secede from the UN and send the UN packing back to Europe?

Maybe it seemed like a good idea to have it based in this country originally, but that was a different time and a different mindset. It's time we got those parasites out of here.

What could be more legitamate then to tell them Adieu, Adios, Sayanora, Auf Wiedersehen!, Pakul, Dovizhdane, Farvel, Doi gen, Ciao, Alweda, you got two weeks to get to JFK airport and get your scruffy butts out of the US.
Then make a apartments out of the building (or better yet, tear it down)

I vote for tearing it down. I saw a show on discovery channel that went thru the "guts" of the building and it needs millions and millions of dollars worth of repairs. The UN thinks we should pony up the repair costs but there was supposed to be a maintnenance fund that has somehow managed not to have anything in it, I wonder why?

And if we kick them out it should free up parking in NYC, but before they leave they have to pay all the parking tickets first.
