In looking at Michael Moore's performance over the past couple of years, it is hard to oppose the thought that he wants to bring back the peace movement of the sixties. While the media has lauded the sixties as an utopia of intellegent thought by the youth of the nation, little attention has been paid to the cost that the nation had to pay as a result.

Anyone remember the "New Army" ad campaign put out as a result of the Vietnam War? Anyone recall the loss of faith in our country and ourselves that occured in the seventies? How about the hostages in Tehran and our inability to do anything about it? Or maybe you recall the low esteem our men in unifrom were held in during the seventies? This was the consequences of the peace movement on our national spirit.

Since Micheal Moore tries to emulate the effect of the peace movement, one is lead to the conclusion that he feels that the period of national self loathing and dispair is our "good old days" and is striving to recreate them.

The next time some "dove" tries to wrap themselves in the glory of the peace movement, remind them of the price we had to pay as a nation. Then offer them a WIN button. (If you know what that is, you're dating yourself)

Nostalgia is a dangerous game.... It remembers only the good (or what is perceived as good) and not the problems or the stupid...

Ah, the 70's...

Let's see -- bra burning - now there was an intelligent idea...
free love --- another winner, STDs & HIV...
drug use --- overdoses, brain damage...

macrame, avocado & poppy colored appliances, hot pants, maxi skirts....

Hey don't knock macrame - my hubby is very good at tying them darn knots....

He made me this really cool light table thingy it hangs from the ceiling and holds four little trees every Christmas. We strung the lights in it one year - sorta liked it and left it that way.

And well hot pants were cool until my Mom tried to wear them YECKKKK

Maybe it's late, but I found this to be a real thigh-slapper. I think it's the cheerful expression. Sort of surreal, like Himmler doing "Whistle while you work". Then again I've been up since 6:00 AM deer hunting, am super tired and easily amused.

PhantomSgt, as much as I detest any reference to partial birth abortion, in this case it's a very good analogy. Laughing

What's macrame? I know how to say it, but I don't know what it is.

I wonder how old that fool is? I hate to think he came out of the "Pepsi Generation". What a disgrace this man is and such a dishonor to our country. Maybe we'll get lucky and hear that his foot got stuck in his mouth, they tried to operate, but it was unsucessful. Mad Mad

As I recall it, back in the seventies (Carter or Ford?) WIN stood for Work Is Non-profitable. At least it seemed that way at the time.
