Speaking of Russians trying to rebuild the old Soviet Union, what should be done about the election in Ukraine, where "official" results show the pro-Kremlin candidate Yanukovich leading by 2.7%, while "exit polls" showed the pro-Western candidate Yushchenko leading by about 10%, and 200,000 of his supporters are demonstrating in the streets of Kiev, and American observer Senator Richard Lugar is talking about "a concerted and forceful program of election-day fraud and abuse."?
I would hesitate to question an election based only on exit polls. Exit polls showed Kerry winning Florida and Ohio, but the official count (probably more reliable in Ohio than in Ukraine) gave Bush the victory by 2.5%.
But if Putin and his friends are trying to steal the election in Ukraine, and this can be proven, hopefully our "honchette" National Security Advisor, soon-to-be Secretary of State, and acknowledged expert on the Soviet Union can intervene to avoid a civil war in Ukraine.
President Bush once claimed that he could read Putin's soul. Now might be a good time for some Presidential soul-searching!!! To Russia with love? _________________ The traitor will crater! |
