Here's one for us all to ponder.

I am certain at some time or another over the past year, we have all tried to tackle this dilemma.

WHAT DO WE DO TO END 'IED' CASUALTIES??

Improvised explosive devices......... they seem to have so much fire power that armor is not a completely viable solution to the equation.

I have heard that they are both manually and electronically triggered....

Is there a way to protect our soldiers from this threat? Other than eliminating the demographic willing to deploy these things.

I'm hoping we've garnered some Intel on these things while taking over Felluja. I read they've captured a 'IED factory'?

We got a whole lot of brain power out there....... think of thetotal years of experience the swift boat community amounts to!

Most IED/s kill innocent noncombatants not soldiers. The terrorists are waging a war against civilians to control their minds and impose their will on them. Fear is their game and hiding in the shadows their method.

These cowardly people would not face a US fighting man on the battlefield, as they have no honor. Look at what happened to the mighty Republican Guard when faced with by American fighting man, they shed their uniforms, dropped their weapons and ran home to mother. This was supposedly the best trained force in the Middle East.

The only way to IED proof Iraq is when the people of Iraq decide to put a stop to it.

Good debate; I think Israel has the best handle on this problem, wear a bomber belt----your family has no home. The heavy equipment operators need the work! Cool

So, instead of a radar detector, someone could build an IED detector. We put a man on the moon, why not this.

modify the explosive sniffing equipment they use at the airports and put it on those little robot tank like things. Send it out in front of troops and place a few stationary ones in places like - oh I don't know - the police recruiting station, hospitals...

Cool

Since all Iraq major cities are under a limited "Martial Law", why not make it illegal for anyone to drive cars other than military and law enforcement? They will have to get to point A to point B by walking and public transportation.
Most IED's are delivered by automobiles, the fewer cars on the road the better.
When they get tired of walking and public transportation they, the citizens can fix the problem themselves by turning in all terrorists or killing them.
